A default audio device is incompatible error

    I played the game since launch with no issues. But after the big update, I get the following error when I run the game: "Error. A default audio device is incompatible with the game. The game may not correctly recognise when new devices are plugged in.

    I have reset Microsoft store, updated Windows 10, and uninstalled/reinstalled the game, but the error persists.

    Anyone have a solution?

    I recommend that you contact the support, you are not the only one who has had that issue, but for the moment nobody has posted a solution :(

    Raise a ticket (it may take a while to fully load)

    @el-espectro-0 Thanks, I did submit a support ticket. I just wanted to post in case a plyaer had a quick solution.

    @sml-chief No, no Voicemeter. I did have VoiceAttack software, but I haven't used it in a year. I did try uninstalling it, but I still get the audio device error.

    Since it's been almost a week with no solution, I requested a refund from Microsoft Store. It's a shame, because I was enjoying the game a lot, but there's no telling when or if there will be a fix from Rare. Maybe I'll try again someday.

    @captain-aff i have the same issue all of a sudden it started last night very disappointing i contacted someone on the support chat too and they were no help. No issues with any other games and i have never seen this before.

    @baneofhope I did get a reply back from Rave after I refunded the game. They said some people fixed the issue by rolling back their AMD Radeon display drivers. I have an NVIDIA card, but perhaps rolling back the display driver might work for you. Let me know what card you have and if that helps.

    I found I had to explicitly select my sound device, not rely on the default.

    I'll try and find some instructions...

    It might be set to HDMI or something..

    Bump, did anyone find a fix for this? I was playing this morning and then updated windows earlier and now I also have same issue.

    I'v been in touch with windows support and they recommended a system roleback which didn't fix the issue, I'v also changed my default audio device, unplugged headset, restarted PC, checked drivers etc.

    I have a GTX 970 and have been playing since launch with no issues other than the beardy 1's we all had at start.

    So it would appear it was nothing to do with audio devices (kinda figured) and my user profile on windows 10 had a corruption, setting up a 2nd admin account has fixed the game issues and launches perfectly now.

    Anyone else with this issue did you have a system crash or power cut before the issue started?

    Anyway time to get back to piracy and adventure :D
