So you need a MS Account or is a Local Account enough to play Sea of Thieves on March 20th?

    Some people do not like the idea of signing into Windows with an Microsoft account so will Sea of Thieves also work with a local account?

    you definetly need a microsoft account, local is just that, local. this is a multiplayer always online game so you will need the respective account so ppl know who to add to their friendlist or report for what ever kinda nasty s**t you might do on the high seas, if that is your intent of course ;)

    @sanni You can play with a local account (as long as you log in with MS account in the necessary applications (MS Store, Xbox...)), but currently the game can give you issues if you do not log in with a Microsoft account (the game crash on the grey screen with a picture).

    But there are no other ways to fix that issue:

    Although I hope it is fixed for the launch :)

    The login with your online account into windows is just a fix in case you get the problem that the games closes right after starting during the grey screen. Seems like a local account can lead to a bug with ms store but no need to change it until you get the problem.
