I, as a lot of you have been reading about “to much PVP”, “safe zones” and other griefs, but I think most are missing the point. This game is designed in a way that forces a team to play together, insync, to complete their objective. This isn’t being set up as a WOW, Call of Duty or No Man’s Sky – it’s a team based game that rewards players who know how to balance PVP alongside PVE objectives. It just takes time to master.
Every ship has a distinct advantage and if your crew knows how to use them you will excel. A galleon is faster and has more fire power, but a sloop can turn quicker and can out position a galleon. Take the time to learn how to use the boats and which weapons work in different scenarios – this will help you out immensely.
Also, don’t follow the advice of some of the “famous” streamers out there as there has been a lot of misinformation spread by them… Some of it really funny and probably deserves its own thread.
I’ll throw it out there that most closed beta players don’t have the in game experience yet, nor 3 other fully reliable crew members that knows how to operate each boat position. This is ok. Frankly you were sitting ducks against other alpha players… You have to remember that most of the alpha players have packed together for their crews and have multiple days of in game play which helps know when to attack and how to flee.
It will come down to your crew working together, in unison and understanding when and how to operate all of the elements of the boat and exploit each boats weakness. Poor tactics has made for a losing strategy for some – however it doesn’t have to be that way.
