Grey Screen Crash! Please help!

  • I've been trying to launch the game for the last day. Initially i was having an issue with the too early message and couldn't get into Xbox App or Xbox Insider Hub. I've fixed that issue by going to my Services and finding Xbox Live Auth Manager. Mine was disabled for some reason, re-enabling it fixed that issue and i was able to log into the Insider hub and join the club and i was able to actually access my closed beta in the microsoft store. NOW, however every time i launch the game i get a grey screen with some art

    I'll see this screen for a few seconds and then it just closes back to my desktop and nothing happens. I've tried reinstalling both the game and the insider hub app several times, I'm logged into my computer under my microsoft account, not a local account, I've tried rebooting several times, I've added an exception to my ESET NOD32. Still nothing, any help would be much appreciated. Here are my Computer Specs:

  • @pokanakop I see that you have tried everything I could tell you and more. Then, I can only tell you to raise a tictek to the support, maybe they can help you better.

  • @PokanakoP I have exactly the same problem than you, and i know some other people on this forum that have it too, i had the too early error message, but the fix of the 26 had resolved it, could play fine, then got this problem now since yesterday, if support is of any help for you can you say it here so i go to support too. Thanks

  • This appends to me too some times.
    Just uninstall the Insider app from Windows, then reinstall it from the Microsoft Store. Then launch the game.

  • still having this issue. did reinstall the xbox insider app and also reinstalled the game. rebooted a few times and ensured all updates are installed. also signed out and back in to my m$ account.

    still closes right after the grey screen. was only able to get the game running once yesterday. no luck after that.

  • I have the same problem since the first technical alpha... almost always after restart PC I also have to reinstall whole game for have chance to play :-/

    Hope that devs will fix it before launch.

  • Sorry for those still having the issue. To be more specific, reinstall the insider app before launching the game, do not reboot. Reinstalling the game doesn't fix the issue too. Sometimes without having rebooted the PC the game launches and the next time it doesn't (!). I just uninstall/reinstall the insider app, launch it and then launch the game.
    Hope this helps.

  • what im doing personally is just reinstall the xbox insider hub like carbonowl has said before, i check if the game launch normally first, if not, i reinstall the insider hub, then the game works.
    everything is strange

  • So YES I will state that just reinstalling XB Game Hub did the trick for me on PC. SOOOOO Glad that it was not another redownload from stupid Micrsoft aka MicroHardToWorkWith @TheCarbonOwl TY!

  • I got the same problem. Have been trying to fix it since yesterday. Nothing works... Nothing at all.

  • Not sure if this will help or not.
    But if it resolves one person's issue then I guess it was worth it.
