Does rare even test there new content

  • Just come across people in the garrison with there boat inside. Do they not actually test stuff before releasing. Impossible to win as you need a harpoon gun so can't double gun as they can close the gate giving them unlimited cannons if you try to get your boat close and making it impossible to even try to fight against. That and the amount of bone crawlers and curse balls is really reducing the fun in any HG fight

    It's already on Insiders that hourglass matches won't take place near forts or islands, so it'll be here soon. Almost 4yrs later. Also be careful, you can glitch yourself and appear invisible to others (happened to me already).

  • Rares testing is "We added a capstan to open a door, does it work? Yes? Ok Job done. Onto the next thing" In terms of testing I doubt they do any of it thoroughly and the certainly don't think about all the ways a player would try to do crazy things. If you watch the recent developer up date it is disgustingly obviously not just how they don't play but also how they have done nothing but ignore players. They talked about shortening the weapon draw delay like it was a fix and so proud of how much smoother the game plays and combat is more fun and engaging now. Like... Uh... Do they have access to a year 1 build? Go try it out.. Then get back to me. Sure hitreg has had some improvements over those early days. However 0 weapon delay at all. Sword not being delayed if you hit an object, got nerfed because people would sword spam as long as they were next to a wall or something to hit then they could spam like crazy. More a great thing for clearing forts but I guess on ships it could have been annoying in PvP scenarios especially bellow deck. But the fact people were against weapon draw delay from the start (well... most people). Then it opened the door for animation canceling which then became a knowledge gap issue. You had to know how poorly coded their game was and easy to exploit everything. Then combat felt better again. They ignored "quick draw" FOREVER then finally fixed it. Loads of people quit. Then they decided to try and readjust it (still is kinda gross, but it's better). Like go watch any of Summit1gs year 1 athena steals. That weapon swapping speed felt so good.

    I have argued since its addition that the grapple gun is too useful a tool for us to have to decide between that or a gun. It feels gross running to the weapon locker so frequently to change load out between a combat setup and a mobility setup. That's just bad game design. I suggested a 3rd weapon slot that had limit items availability. Like grapple/darts. Though with the different dart types and amount of ammo combined it would be kinda OP to have that along with a gun and a sword. Since having a 3rd slot would be silly for just 1 item seems like the grapple would just be better as a tool. But because they want it to have ammo can they even code it so a tool works off the same ammo system?

    It's ironic they just went through and tried to fix some areas where ships could get themselves stuck on land so you could never sink them. Honestly any new content you will have someone trying to figure out a way to exploit it for hourglass. Just report anyone you see doing it. Not that reporting even matters any more. They have pushed away so many people and the player count is dropping so fast they added this forgiveness system for prior banned players. They are to busy trying to wrap the game in flotation devices to keep it from sinking to really put much time into testing anything.

    So yea. They only test if an added thing works. The players themselves aren't even a thought. Just like when they added the burning blade and you could que that up for hourglass. Honestly it might be best to just not playing after an update. Problem is they have all the FOMO. I liked when they were moving away from it because then you could let them fix all the broken stuff they added before playing. Instead this ridiculous awful idea of an act system forcing you to come back and play each broken monthly build after another because you don't wanna miss out!!!

    The internal testers for the longest time have seemed to be non-existent or barebones at best. For the first time ever we got told that even the internal team were not happy with Ashen Garrisons which is why they had to delay it. Even then when it got given to Insiders literally every single thing about it was considered Work in Progress or Placeholder; which many of those WiP aspects still being broken on release.

    For example; when you get on an anchor it spawns like 3 skeletons which take longer to actually to spawn in and agro a player than it takes to lift the anchor, meaning they are physically unable to actually do anything to you. A majority of the skeletons just kill themselves on the fire traps as they have terrible pathing and die immediately to traps that in lore they built themselves. There are also many spots where skeletons spawn inside the walls or cannot correctly path to a player and get stuck. The music was also considered Placeholder however they just re-used Ashen Lord music; meaning I guess they were intending on having new music but it got scrapped within the last few weeks of development. Everything about Ashen Garrisons screams what is wrong with the game.

  • Despite being delayed, unfortunately, it does seem like this update was rushed to get out before Season 19 and the anniversary.

    The invisible player bug is bad enough (I think there's a major memory issue right now and that's the root cause) but being able to get ships inside the Garrison seems like a very big oversight.

    Even if Rare come out against the tactic, we know from prior incidents that they're very soft on exploits now. They'll probably just say the same thing about "use it while you can" and "your days are numbered". Highly unlikely any action will be taken if you report it.

    That happened to my friend while we were doing a garrison but idk how it happened. I have a video of him steering the wheel xD it looked so funny

  • @captain-knyt And there all locked behind doors. So you have to raise an anchor or kill skeltons whilst trying to TDM with 1 gun?
