Ancient megaladon and 2 skeleton ships spawned during the battle for sea of thieves (hourglass fight)

  • (originally filed as bug report but was transfered here)
Me and my friend, (their nametag is "Heirop V") were doing the hourglas/battle for sea of thieves of Athenas'. During the battle of sea of thieves, a pvp event, Barnicled dread spawned inside the bounds of the fight (or at least we spawned at the location of the Barnicled dread) and it was very hard to concentrate on pvp while also fighting off the shark. THEN 2 skeleton galleons spawned. I attached screenshots as proof. I believe it is not fun nor fair to play the pvp game mode while a world event, such as an ancient megaladon, spawns and is attacking one of the ships. Especially if they are a sloop and have to repair and bucket while the other team just waits for them to sink from the shark.

  • I'll just post the links since I cant seem to attach images

  • @seyvetchnew They fixed some bad spawns (You can't spawn in storms or on top of an emergent skeleton ship or players) early in season 8, then they stopped updating hourglass and never excluded any of the other pve, of course completely forgetting to exclude the new megs

  • So what seems to be an issue?
Still open world and the npc don’t care what your doing, they do make the fight more intense and require “more skill” to deal with.

Either both ships try to ignore or both ships work together.

  • personally i think having some randomness to an hourglass battle could add some fun chaos. but if youre trying to just serious face hardcore grind out hourglass i could see it being frustrating. but its like when hourglass first came out and there were no rules. there was this weird mix of people wanting to gang up on others (ususally servants) then while having 2 servers trying to sink you another guardian hourglass ship would see you and come over to try and have your back. granted this kinda stuff is/was about as rare as the encounter you just described. removing the ability for people to progress their hourglass vs ships that were part of someone elses hourglass match i think helped stop this? hourglass diving used to happen in a few fixed areas far from outposts. i dont remember the big issue other than not being able to go turn in your win fast if its all you wanted. i think another issue was it made players able to camp a location? so adding some randomness to the diving made it so you could show up near some unfortunate pve. though also since they have a silly easy to exploit defense mode so people can pve server their way to 1000..... you might be diving in as an invader on a defender who just happened to be doing a pve world event or be near one to trick you into it. in the end i think these kinds of scenarios would be rare enough that one day you could look back at it and be like "oh man that was a wild set of random circumstance eh?" ive had a fair amount of events chaining together that just seemed super unlikely. it is where we got the term "getting rared" from after all.

  • @burnbacon well 1 ship can just be on the edge of the battlefield while the other has to deal with an ancient meg and 2 skeleton galleons at the same time and wait until the other ship sinks without even lifting a finger. that was pretty much how it was for me.

  • Judging by location. Yup you’re near the fleet. And some reason the ancient Meg was also nearby. Should be fun to see the gally skelly ships shoot at it as well. (Yes they do)
