The game is too easy

  • I have been playing the game since the beginning. And I figured out what has slowly infected the game. RARE has done too much to make the game too easy. If this game were a dinner meal , it would be microwave and hot pockets. And I don't want to eat microwave hot pockets. The treasures all have glowing shining like , so there's no challenge there. You have skeletons on the island so they can find the treasure for you.So there's no challenge there. You have all kinds of stuff on the map to show you where the other player is.So there's no challenge there. If this were a dating game.It would be taking a boy in a girl and putting him into a hotel room and locking the door. No romance. Get rid of the shining on the treasures , get rid of the skeletons and make us work for our reward. Get rid of anything on the map that shows another ship or where another ship is. Get rid of the emissary stripes on the flag.\nAnd put them someplace in the bottom of the ship. Make people work harder and they will enjoy the game more. Bring back the romance.

  • @captainluke56 Yeah.... they just added the reaper skellies, and they don't like taking out things they just put in. I like the reaper skellies. The players showing up on the map only shows if somebody is a reaper or has reapers mark. The emissary stripes are to easily alert players if they have a high grade, and possible treasure. Even if you are very far away and can't see the stripes, you can still tell the grade by length. The treasure being sparkly only makes it easier if you actually just scavenge for treasure instead of earning it. My only non cosmetic or quest complaints are that the eternal guard takes too long to kill, and is too hard for such an easy to find boss, and that sailing takes too long

Catering to the 1% because they want them new players to stick around.

You have skeletons on the island so they can find the treasure for you

Only on large islands and often...I use them myself like Old Faithful...

Get rid of the shining on the treasures

That been a thing since D1 I believe....rather keep that.

Get rid of anything on the map that shows another ship or where another ship is

    Such as?

Make people work harder and they will enjoy the game more.

Agree game has become less of a fun experience to a boring, easy to get 1million gold in under 30min.

    True.

The treasures all have glowing shining like , so there's no challenge there.

Not all have shining, I think it's very useful especially when you're trying to harpoon stuff from the water.
I've more issues with diving and ending up close to the correct location (and even then people complain about not having enough time to raise sails ...)

You have skeletons on the island so they can find the treasure for you.So there's no challenge there.

If you want the challenge, don't use them. I like them for carrying items to my ship (especially when you've just done a boar's wallow and you have 5-7 items), or after a reaper's voyage where you end up with items where you don't know beforehand where you need to be.

You have all kinds of stuff on the map to show you where the other player is. So there's no challenge there.

As you well enough know it's to add risk to the crew having the indicator on.

Still have to sail there, also the other party is aware of this (well, if they pay attention to annoying pop-ups).
An easy to spot crew does not equal an easy to fight crew.

I don't think most people'll like it if you'll remove the Emissary bonus.
Or finally a way to find X's with chests on Old Faithfull

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t you frequently advocating for the removal of safer seas restrictions and/or full PvE servers? That leads me to believe that you primarily play safer seas.

If I’m correct, then of course the game is too easy. When I started playing I recognized how easy the PvE was immediately, but I was also very vulnerable to other players and did my best to avoid conflict and play to my abilities. Based on this I surmised that the PvE in this game, while entertaining and rewarding, is not meant to be the threat or challenge, the other players on the map who might decide to contest what you’re doing are the challenge. I don’t speak for Rare, but as far as I can tell, just about everything in this game is designed to foster player interaction and conflict. Big clouds in the sky, markers on the map, emissaries, the ability to see other emissaries through various means; it seems pretty obvious to me that Rare has every intention of getting us together to fight over things, work together, scheme, and so on. Players are the challenge, players are the end game.

My response isn’t intended as a slight on your desired gameplay, but when I see post advocating for PvE servers the first thing I think of is how bored everyone would be after a week or two. Sure, there will be exceptions, but I’d wager that the vast majority of people will not care to double click skeletons without any semblance of threat or challenge in the game for very long.

Rare could try to make PvE more challenging, some of the tall tales can be a bit of a challenge the first time through after all, but what would this look like at your average fort? Increase the hit points and/or damage output of bosses, I guess? Improving the AI would be cool, but the end result would be making frequently contested events and other content take longer, thus increasing the chance of other players intervening. I’m not against any of that, but others may be.

It’s clear to me that Rare’s intent is to have players cross paths, and not to have events be a quiet pve only experience with no potential for conflict (at least not every time). It’s abundantly clear that their intent for safer seas isn’t for it to be a replacement mode with its own special content (ie; improved PvE).

TLDR: I don’t think PvE was ever meant to be much of a challenge, interacting with other players is where you’ll find your challenge.
