Reset on doubloons

it's punishing players that play the game as I spend my dubloons on previous season stuff only to get it devalued into gold and won't have those coins to buy the new time limited stuff... nice way to say selling loot doesn't matter and given this tweet (https://x.com/S0nicbob/status/2014053185380381012), gold doesn't matter either so why sell anything anymore

After that, I now have another reason to keep playing, Recollect my Bloons.

These coins that are so simple to achieve now days, I forget sometimes to spend them.

I seriously don't understand the gripe about doing a wipe on a currency that has effectively no value to anyone that has played or does play regularly.

Like, I haven't missed a season and thus have all the associated season cosmetics, and the only thing doubloons are really good for is buying past season cosmetics. So like, what am I supposed to do with my 55k doubloons since I also have all the doubloon-related outpost cosmetics?

I really like the idea of a wipe with a refreshed economy/value surrounding doubloons. Plus, they're putting out some time limited stuff to blow them on before the wipe. So, there's your recognition.

Now, how can they refresh the Gold economy? 🤔🤔🤔

@oldfartseadog People finally understand that what you have accumulated, like hamsters (who like to save everything and not spend it), is worse for the game than what the Devs want to do. This is how you will be compared in season 19 (yes, it hurts for doubloons, but they don't belong to you anyway (most likely it is written in the license agreement of almost all products on the Internet and SoT is no exception)). And people will have an INCENTIVE to play the game, rather than "Hey, it's a new season - I'll close the Plunder Pass and forget about the game for 3 months." I know it's hard to understand, but you have to accept that you have to sacrifice something. And I'll write another moment - Do you seriously think that you will spend a conditional 50,000 doubloons on something? If a player was constantly playing the game, he had nowhere to put these doubloons (since he had already received everything he could get)

A lot of extraction games have wipes and it encourages you to keep coming back to get the next wave of rewards.

I actually really like the idea of them doing that - at least for doubloons.

Not sure that they could do the same or even similar with Gold, but is a good start and direction IMO.

Like, what else are you going to do with all those doubloons? What exactly are you and others getting bent out of shape for? My stockpile just keeps growing and growing and I've nothing to spend them on so this is really a positive thing IMO.

You clearly have no need for the doubloons - you haven't spent them.
Either you have all the seasonal content or didn't want to buy them.

They said there will be special cosmetics for people to buy prior to wipe. Sounds like an 'overachiever' style of thing. No doubt there will be complaints from people who can't afford to buy them.

Complaints about this issue seem to be one of two varieties :

• Veteran players who have amassed a huge stash of doubloons and irrationally are aggrieved that something they don't use will be taken away and replaced with something they might potentially use.

• New players who don't realise that all the cosmetics they are currently trying to save to buy with doubloons will be available for GOLD. This is a positive change for those trying to catch up.

That's my main complaint with this whole deal. Seeing as how I always considered doubloons basically worthless post blackmarket, I never much cared to grind for them. Now I'm probably going to get fomo'd hard as a result lol.
I only have like 11k, and I have a feeling they're going to balance the prices of these items toward players with absurd amounts of doubloons.

only having 11k is still a LOT of doubloons. I've got 55k and I'm not even amongst the truly crazy hoarders of them.

I'm hoping they're going to have a variety of items with scaling costs and even the people with truly crazy amounts of doubloons won't be able to buy all the items, but will have to pick and choose instead. Like a 5k item, a 10k item, a 25k item, a 50k item, a 75k item, and a 100k item.

Realistically, they'll probably have one or two dumb trinkets costing 5k. That would be a let down... But I'd still be cool with the wipe and rebalance.

I really do hope they won't do that, new items for total 20-30k or so would be fine.

And my point is that they let a worthless currency exist for ~8 years (The fact you have 96k is a testament to this), and are now set to introduce some cosmetics that won't be priced accordingly.

Guess I've been playing wrong this whole time, as I was never really a "me like watch number go up" type player. They never presented a reason to seek doubloons, and now they're adding cosmetics that will only be attainable by those who arbitrarily did, for some reason. Just another cosmetic L from Rare.
