Idea: Reverse mimic dart.

  • Does the opposite of the mimic dart. Changes the person you hit with it to look like you. Changes the colour of their gamertag to match your affiliation (but doesn't change their actual gamertag).

Could be particularly effective used by solo players against larger crews.

  • Hmm I see where you are going with this but I don't see it being effective in practice, ok you mimic reversed dart someone on a galleon crew?
They shot him, relise there's no damage being done (Friendly Fire) and it's an easy assumption that someone is nearby (you) that pulled it off, hence putting them on high alert that someone mimicked dart their crew mates.

Mimic darts in general are just a niche goofy tool that offer nothing useable outside of mimic darting clueless open crew players.

I still have not seen any enemy crews using it. Played around with it on day one and never touched it again.

    Seemed more a novalty...

Ok so, just shoot at the person with the white nameplate lol. Easy. Exactly what Veronik and CaptDirtyOar said, the mimic dart is a goofy toy bored crews can use on each other. I've yet to see it used in pvp, let alone be successful.

Somebody’s gonna end up getting falsely reported for being “invincible”.

    I like it!
I think the name plate of the allied player would turn white as well. So you sneak onto onto enemy ship and "doppelgänger" them now they have to work out who to focus on.

Simple: The one who can get hurt. I've still yet to see this used successfully in pvp by the way. It's a goofy toy and nothing more.

  • @europa4033

Its more useful when tucking and that's a skill all to itself that a smaller percentage of the SOT players do.

As for the one to got hurt. Hurting them does not break the mimic and even then in high stakes rapid movement combat it would be easy to loose track of whose how let alone read the gamer tag.

  • The mimic dart (apparently) changes the colour of your nameplate to match the affiliation of your target (i.e. to an enemy, your nameplate would appear green).

I figured the reverse mimic dart would do the same/ opposite (change your target's nameplate to match your affiliation), so to your enemy's team mate their gamertag would appear white rather than green.

I think jumping on a galleon and hitting several members of the crew with reverse mimic darts so there's two to five of you running round the ship would definitely sow a little confusion.

Yes you'd be able to figure it out once you've hit someone, or by reading their gamertag, but as @MisereNZ says, that would still take a second or two, and when there's an enemy on board your ship, I imagine those seconds could add up and become quite frustrating.

I also think it's important not to write ideas off just because they wouldn't necessarily win fights against competent crews. The important question is whether people could have fun with it. I think they could.
