This really sucks. For a few days the new season seemed to have fixed my crashes. Now they are back with a vengeance. For a few days I would crash a couple times then play for hours straight. Now I can't do anything. My game crashes no matter what I do, 3-4 minutes into a session. Always. Sometimes it is a freeze frame type crash (Hazelnutbread), others it is a simple black screen as the game turns itself off. Any suggestions?
Still having random crashes
Yep, I said it before and folks said give season 12 a chance. And yes, for a few hopeful days it seemed things were back on track. Now though, I can't do ANYTHING in this game past the 2 minute mark. Or at best I might be able to play a session after a dozen freezes. Freeze after freeze after freeze. This game used to be rock solid stable and now the lack of stability just SUCKS. Ever since the anti cheat add on or was it the server changes? I forget now.
Well thanks for the fun ride. It was fun while it lasted. There are a bazillion other STABLE games to play. Bye.
@cptclapz I've already uninstalled and reinstalled but I'll go ahead and do that again. I'll Google port forwarding and wire my internet since I don't know what those are or how to check them. Thanks for the help.
@straw-hat-blake I'll go ahead and reinstall again just in case. What does Nat type open tell me? I'm not familiar with that process?
@rikjaxx it allows you to connect to Rares servers without restrictions. Usually just getting a wired connection will give you IPv6 open connection.
I also just bought the game on PS5 to just to show support. After like 18 hours of sailing there was only one point where I was having connective issues. Just simply closing the game and opening it back up fixed the problem. I was solo and was able to rejoin without an issue.
Last video by Rare they did acknowledge and apologise for the beard errors and crashes and have said they’re working hard to fix these issues.
Unfortunately development takes time and a bit of patience goes far.
It’s unfortunate for those it effects but we just have to cross our fingers, hold our thumbs and cheer on the team behind the scenes.
Sure enough they’ve done a lot in the run up and post Season 12 release but there’s still only so much as can be done in short time spans. If the above hints and tips don’t help, file a ticket after your next crash, feedback helps them identify the cause
I know they mentioned the beard errors but I don't recall mention of crashing specifically (though I could have missed it).
As for filing tickets, how do we grab crash data to send? I had hoped it was automatically sending crash reports.
It's not your machine.
It crashes on both my Xbox Series X and my $2,000 less-than-a-year-old gaming PC.
@rikjaxx on pc. this happens to most of my crewmates and I frequently. all pc. mixed between steam/ms.
Game still crashing for me on PC.
Tried on Microsoft store and Steam.
Tried reinstalling on both
Checekd file integrity on both
Tried installing it on the C drive
Updated drivers for Graphics card, CPU, Windows.Turning off Nvidia Shadowplay looked like it helped, but it can still crash anywhere from 10 minutes to 1,5 Hour.
My crashes returned this season but they might have been related to my shrine activity, or Rare coincidentally and silently improved something the day I stopped checking shrines for horns.
I still go to shipwrecks, still do events, lots of activity but the crashes reduced significantly after dropping shrines.
Might have something to do with at least some of the crashing as I'm sure lots of people are checking shrines this season.
Could have just been a coincidence though.
I've tried reinstalling multiple time. I've tried the "fixes" on the Hazelnut page. Nothing works. The only thin I can count on in this game anymore is 2 minutes in, it freezes, then either just blinks off or comes back with the Hazelnutbeard error.
I've been having a good ol time with City of Heroes - remember that old classic - but I sure would like to sail the high seas again.
