Hello dear everyone. My name is Edip and people call me Azjol. I played this game like 5 years and still lovin it.I got bad days, good days in Sea of thieves. Sea of thieves is part of my life. And I said to my self, i have to do more than play. And I made a concept. Its Called '' Chest of the Artists''. And you can find the Chest model at the pinned file.
This Chest has levels.
Common
Epic
and Legendary.
Common Chest of Artist's sold by Larinna at outpost.(Limited for 3 pieces per week.)
Epic Chest is only awarded at the Skelly Fort in Forsaken Shores.(Or can be awarded at most underrated event. Your choice.)
And Legendary chest is only gifted for who win content on social media. (Like SotShot and Gloves)
When people dig up the Chest of Artist, they have to go to an outpost for claim it to the game menu. When they give the Chest to the Larinna, Chest is moves to the Game Menu Inventory.
This chest is different. People have to unlock the Chest (Like Ashen Chest) for get the in game skins. When they unlock it, chest gives random 3 ingame items. (Like Kraken Pistol or New skins created for new Chest content.)
But people have to pay ancient coins for unlock the chest. The different all 3 variant of chest only unlocked by only 1 key.
And this key can be sell at Pirate Emporium for 250 Ancient Coins. (Different variants can be creatable. Like only Ship Cosmetics chest / Only Weapons Chest/ Only Hats or only Emotes.) What do you guys think? Lemme know!!Chest Of the Artist's

@thisis-azjol sounds overly complicated for something that is gonna be RNG. That and the whole point we earn gold in game is to buy the cosmetics.

What you’re describing is a loot box system, which, if you haven’t noticed, has been phased out of pretty much from all games due to laws being passed within the EU and US banning them, as it falls under gambling for irl money.
@tesiccl No sir. We are not gambling here. You cant move those items to other accounts like other games. This chest is the way for open new economy system. Everyone farming golds and people reached to billons. With this system, people gonna spent more golds for get a chance for new skins. I mean you not have to pay 250 ancient coins, if you not wanna use irl money, you can use ingame golds tho. Like 1 key: 1.5m ;golds

This a loot box system in every way, and loot boxes are indeed a type of gambling. In many places loot box systems like this are legally recognized as gambling, regardless if you can trade or sell the contents.
I have to say, im very big against loot boxes in the vast majority of anything that they touch, and they would only hinder the game. If new cosmetics come to the game, i want to know exactly what im buying the moment i spend the coin, regardless if its gold, doubloons, or ancient coins.

But yea, the moment you have people spending premium currency for a random chance at cosmetics, it's a loot box. And yes, there have been many laws passed banning these. I am also vehemently against anything that requires social media interaction. Many players can't or don't want accounts required to do this; it was a major blocking for people participating in Hoarder's Hunt. Everything should be earning able in game.
BUT if it were a loot box where we can only spend in-game currency on it... I think that's fine right? Those of us with millions of coins do want something to spend it on, apart from fixing our ship and starting supplies... A voyage rewarding a loot box would be cool. Or buy one for gold.
First we have someone asking for a 'SoT+' subscription system vis a vis the much hated Fallout 1st method.
Now we have someone asking for lootbox gambling?People are aware that nickle & dimeing players for every little thing, and literal gambling mechanics are bad for games, right? 🤦
No wonder this dredge gets added to every game; When it is missing, someone comes along and says "Boy howdy! I'd sure love to have a game fleece me of all my money with the most predatory transactions possible!"

Hmmm, I'm sorry man. I remember now news articles I've read of video game players literally wasting away and starving to death trying to earn gold to get the Legendary cosmetic from a loot box. Not even premium currency, common in-game currency.
Yea, loot boxes in every form are bad. Sorry. I'd love to spend my money on some, but I'm a reasonably prudent person who won't die trying to get my pirate a frilly shirt. Some people will, or have gambling addictions, and that's bad.
I'm generally against turning the farm into a Cadillac Ranch unless it's the only way to keep afloat.
We have a good thing going here, no pressure emporium and a pass that (so far) has been consumer friendly and has maintained quality for rewards.
That stuff gets people so hooked that some players want it to be added to one of the few places where it has been ethically avoided.
Ride this one out as long as we can imo, we have it better than many.
I don't even think the community effect with giveaway stuff has been an overall positive for the environment and that stuff is free.

Loot boxes are entirely rng, meaning you probably wont get what you want. Its better to be able to get exactly what you want, rather than opening a million boxes because the last item you want is only rng.
I cant think of a single game that has been improved by loot boxes. While the cosmetics in them may do good for everyone, the loot boxes them selves just makes getting what you want into a hassle and tedious. You are probably the only non dev player in the world who likes loot boxes if i was going to bet.

But contrary to what people think; Opinions can be wrong.No game has ever been made better by having RNG lootboxes.
And SoT should not try being the first.
