Fondest memories on the seas. Lets hear 'em.

  • A few years ago, I loaded into an open crew sloop and was met by a chubby bilge rat pirate waving at me.

"Ahoy!" He cheerfully chirped "todays your lucky day!"

He pointed me below deck to show me his mighty haul. A few chests and a bounty skull. Pittance to us old salts, but he was so proud, it was hard not to be enthusiastic too.

"Youve been busy!" I said as he happily bounced around the deck.

"Weve got to sell now!" He said " Theres a Galleon over there!" He pointed at a brig far in the distance.

"Right away Captain!" I Replied and we set off towards Plunder outpost (If my memory serves).

He was obviously very new and he steered our ship left and right towards the outpost. Bumping into as many things as he could on the way. He happily talked about his adventures on the way while we played shanties. He was a good kid.

As we neared the outpost, the original brig far behind us, a second white sailed brig cornered the outpost and before we knew it we were under fire.

They were very new themselves, so cannonballs flew miles above us until one hit my new pal square in the face. This was before revives so he was quickly sent to the ferry. I'll always remember how his mood changed instantly.

"Just let them sink us." He sighed.

"We can fight!" I said, but my poor pal was too disheartened. "Nah, its ok. I suck at Pvp."

By the time he respawned I was on the brig and had managed to kill all three of the bloodthirsty crew.

He jumped onto the cannons and started to open fire, eventually managing to hit them an open a few holes.

Before long the brig sunk to the depths and we managed to snag another captains chest. My new pal was ecstatic, shouting to people in his house "we just sunk a GALLEON!"

It was like a switch. All of a sudden the loot meant nothing to him, he wanted blood.

Luckily for him, our next target wasnt far away. The original brig had hard anchored at an island so he dropped our sails and wobbled our way towards it.

I still have nightmares about the events that followed, I had taken the wheel and he anchored us right in the broadside of our brig, but it didnt matter. He rained hell upon them with the cannons, screaming (in a funny, not toxic way) before jumping in himself and launching himself over the brig onto the island.

I lost sight of him for a while, still paralyzed with giggles as he screamed bloody murder at the unfortunate crew (an open crew duo, if I had to guess.) I was too busy laughing to help, but he didnt need it.

A huge explosion tore the brig apart and soon it was nothing but driftwood.

We ended up sinking to a sloop not long after, but my man had changed. No longer was he afraid to defend his haul. He had become a pirate even Flameheart would fear.

If anyone has ever come across this monster, I truly apologise. I guarantee Hes a golden bones killing machine nowadays. I wouldnt be surprised if hes Cap'n.

Just one of many fun times I've had on the waves.

The sea of thieves is filled with happy memories, lets hear yours.

  • For me it's become like the end of the movie Big Fish

the story of my pirate life, it's everyone, they are all part of the memory.

Sometimes I see a name pop up on the forums or some social media post I see or on the server I am on or in some random twitch chat and I remember a random experience I had years ago with them in the game, on an open crew, as a solo.

Because my playstyle is fairly unique and defense focused I've become this character in the background narrating the story in a movie where all the characters are connected to my story.

This is the first time I've ever been a part of an online game like this. I'm not really a gamer I'm an adventurer and this just happened to be my adventure for a few years, right time, right place, right experience. My fondest memory is the whole dang story.

  • i remember a time in Sea of Thieves when people talked and knew how to operate a microphone in gamechat ... Yep , those were the days my Friends ... God , i miss those times...

  • This was an experience I had recently, but it was definitely one of my best. I set sail as a reaper emissary to increase the odds of player interaction, and decided to do some sea forts/world events to get my emissary grade up. As I was doing a FoF, another sloop came over, and wanted an alliance. We allied and started doing the fort together. Not much later, another sloop came over. this sloop made their intentions clear by opening fire on my ally.

I proceeded to swim a gunpowder barrel towards their ship, light the fuse, and climb halfway up their ladder. The person on the sloop wasn't prepared for me to detonate it on the ladder, and was right above me when it blew up. When I was sent to the ferry of the dammed, I found that the other pirate was absent. I figured they either forgot about the option to offer their soul to the ferryman, or had a crew mate they were counting on to resurrect them. The latter proved to be the case, as I spawned back on my ship, which was in flames. I immediately lowered my sail (fortunately, the crew mate had not dropped my anchor) and started fighting the crew mate. I was hoping to defeat them and put the fires out quickly, since I had four gunpowder barrels in my crow's nest. However, I perished in the flames. When I spawned back on my boat, I found that the crew mate had vanished, and that all the fire had been put out my a storm I had accidentally sailed my ship through. The gunpowder barrel had been enough to sink the enemy sloop, and I and my ally could get back to clearing the fort.

Soon, another sloop sailed over near the fort. This sloop was a grade V reaper emissary, but they were only interested in helping to clear the fort. The sloop that had attacked us came back for revenge, but decided not to attack directly, once they noticed our grade V reaper ally. Instead, they sent one of their crew over to the fort. Fortunately, they were found and defeated. Our grade V reaper ally decided to take on the sloop by themselves, and managed to sink it, despite the fact that they were a solo sloop.

Once we completed the fort, my allies were content to split the loot. I was very surprised that the alliance had not been considered null and void once the fort was done, which is usually the case with a FoF. Our grade V reaper ally said they were stacking world events, and wanted to do the FoTD. We went our separate ways after selling the loot, agreeing to bring any ritual skulls we found to the FoTD. I decided to do a ghost fleet world event in an effort to get a world event that would grant us ritual skulls.

Partway into the event, I found I was going to have to leave soon, so I decided to sell what loot I had at the nearest outpost, and head off. Just as I started leaving, a ghost ship hit my mast with a flame ball, detonating the four gunpowder barrels in my crow's nest. For some reason, none of the gunpowder barrels damaged me or my boat, with the exception of the mast, enabling me to get away without sinking. A grade I gold hoarder emissary I had mistaken for one of my allies decided to give me a proper send off to end the session. As soon as I heard the sound of cannonballs hitting my boat I knew I was finished. I rushed to lower my emissary flag and managed to sell most of my loot before they killed me. Overall, it was one of the most memorable Sea of Thieves experiences I have had.

  • Some background: I've had this game since July 2023 and therefore am not very skilled or experienced. I usually play by myself, typically doing open crew on various ships, leading to some funny interactions.

One such time, I decided to join a brigantine, and the first thing I heard over my mic was a kid who sounded about 10 demanding we set sail right away. I convinced him to gather supplies and raise gold hoarder flag first to try to earn him a good amount of gold, because he was obviously new.

After teaching him how to operate a ship, we sailed to a sea fort for some quick, easy gold as well as emissary grade 3. Unsurprisingly, he was overwhelmed by phantoms and I remembered hearing him say "Help they're swarming me!" He had 2 on him while I fought the rest of the wave. Nevertheless, I taught him basic PVE and we completed the fort.

As we sailed to the next one, a skelly curse player joined, but he was nice and taught the kid some advanced tricks. All I remember from the sailing over was the kid asking us if we played Fortnite, which confirmed how young he was. All the while, he was talking about wanting to sink ships, but we convinced him to complete the forts first to earn more gold. I got off before selling, but I hope the kid got some combat experience and enjoys the game!
