@robby0316 Not sure where you heard Rare saying Windwaker was a big inspiration for SoT… but still, even from a legal perspective, Rare would still need Nintendo’s permission to use LoZ’s likeness in their game. It’s not enough to just simply design something “inspired” by it then sell on their store for real money. Big legal no no. And knowing Nintendo, it would probably be a no anyway.

Sea of Thieves team: "We changed everything to keep the Pirates of the Caribbean expansion a secret"

I remember running across the Rare team near E3 back in 2019.

@robby0316 interesting, never seen them mention Windwaker before. Seems like more in the context of the expansive sea with islands in between.
