Buying supplies from the shipwright... No thanks

  • Such a minor convenience to buy a small amount of supplies just to save a little leg work. I would rather pay large amounts of gold as a captain on 1 time purchases to just increase my starting supplies instead. While some might think this would be unbalanced for pvp you can simply just buy supply crates at the merchant so really not much different. It would just be a huge gold sink for a minor convenience. But I would love to just dump a few million gold so that every time I sink or join a new session I have 50 planks and 50 more canon balls and maybe even just coconuts if not a mix of fruit. As coconuts are the new bananas I am not sure why our ships dont' start with them instead since the release version of the game only had bananas but they healed 40 health instead now were stocked with 20 health food.

And lets be real if Rare cared about pvp balancing in the game they would let fully stocked lvl 5 reaper ships use the pirates life portals to force merge to a new server to hunt down easy prey. In a proper play session you would at least see a reaper at lvl 1 working on leveling his flag and then decide if you wanted to risk continuing with an emissary.

  • video killed the radio star
    internet killed the rockstar
    convenience killed balance

  • But I only have 15 minutes to play everyday so I should be able to buy every supply and ammo possible including chainshots, blunderbombs, firebombs, wraithballs, cursed balls, a rowboat, tridents, GPB's (including Athena)...

Game's too hard. Make it easiest.

  • I havn't bought a single Cargo crate or crate from the Merch since release.
With how quickly players seem to be sunk at a nearby outpost, it be a waste of gold for me when I can find them myself with Ease.

This, Captains able to buy resources to fill up Barrels, same thing. Not gonna do it (my choice) when i can find everything for free. And if Im running on a time limit, buying resources only for half to go to waste once it up is also a waste of gold.

BUT, this for those pirates who have an endless supply of Gold and can burn it without making a dent.

  • Need to see just how much supplies it actually gives you, honestly. It is odd though, for several reasons- You can already buy supplies from the merchants, so why shipwrights now, too? And, why can you buy uncooked meat- like, at all? People will probably end up buying that to sell to the Hunter's call. Speaking of- I feel like they should be the ones selling bait, not shipwrights. But, y'know- That's just me.

  • It's soooo hard to dig in 3 or 4 spots to find the worms you need 🙄

  • The point is you are paying the shipwright for the convivence of not having to run the supplies to your ship.... you could just buy a storage crate and loot the whole island which is a much better solution and doesnt take much longer. However every time you sink you dont respawn at an outpost.

Buying supplies from the shipwright doesnt seem like a perk it seems pointless. Paying a much larger price to increase the base starting supplies as a permanent upgrade is much better. I am not talking a ridiculous amount either. Like millions of gold to start with 35 more planks. If anyone with half a brain does the math on the time we have spent stocking our ships its easily hundreds of hours of gameplay. All I am asking is to have an option to drain my bank account for some permanent upgrades to have my ship stocked enough to set sail the second i log in without having to actually buy supplies or loot the whole outpost. This would be a huge time saver and be worth the money. Buying small handfuls of supplies from an NPC isnt saving me that much time. Especially if shes going to have to spend 30 seconds counting coins as is still a far to frequent issue in the game

But hey if you dont value your time and are really bad at math thats your problem i guess. You are the type of people who are like "well if you dont have 10 hours to play then you might as well not even login" the time it takes to sail from a random island you spawn at to an outpost to restock the ship...... hundreds of hours a year. but hey what do i know i only have more play time than anyone commenting on this post

  • i have virtually stopped playing this game since the respawn timers got reduced. it feels like rare is trying to take the ship combat out of the game as much as it can and cater to casuals. its quicker to get into a fight or pve now but the speed to get into stuff also takes away from the game as it means so much less.

came back to see what was new and i can confidently say i wont be coming back for this content

  • I dont think its bad to be able to buy a quick boost of supplies, as it stands they could have left out the ability for captains to buy any of this and left us with just merchant crates, so the way i see it, this is just another easy way to stock up the ship. Not to mention going to another outpost to grab some quick supplies will give much more over all than you would get from a single slight increase to the starting supplies and nothing more.

  • @greatfailure82 The longer respawn time was actually a bug ever since they added reviving, but it definitely needs to be increased, it doesnt really take ship combat out of the game, but rather makes boarding harder, which when fighting a crew of equal naval skill, boarding is required for a sink.

Makes boarding harder for equal sized crews maybe, smaller crews attacking larger ones definitely. For galleon or even brig crews going against a duo/solo it's pretty much easy mode now. They need to figure out a way to work on balance to make naval way more relevant and boarding only necessary or even effective as a final nail once there is a bunch of damage pressure on a ship. Otherwise we should just change the name to CoD 21: FPS on the high seas.

  • @kommodoreyenser Absolutely, boarding has always been easiest for galleon crews, but the "fixed" respawn timer just causes more trouble the smaller your crew is.

  • Everyone spam buying meat and sell it to the hunters so we can get that nerfed.

Gonna see a bunch of new Killer Whales.
