The new-evolving world. (Adventures and Mysteries Speculation Thread)

  • February 17th is coming near, and the first new Adventure named "Shrouded Islands" will release!

Based on the trailer and the preview, it looks like Golden Sands Outpost has been swallowed by a mysterious fog and is now in a battle ridden, inhabitable state. Lore book character Belle finally makes her debut onto the Sea of Thieves and seems to be assisting in the mysteries of this phenomenon along with Larinna.

Flameheart is also apparently taking absence from the Seas... whatever that means.

So what do you think is going to happen following this?
Do you think Reaper's Bones may have something to do with it?
Something happening within the Sea of The Damned that we may have left unchecked during Pirate's Life?
Maybe something to do with the Dark Brethren perhaps?

With the release of February 10th's Emporium Refresh Update, several fixes have come about, but also preparations for the upcoming Adventure: Shrouded Islands.

Golden Sands Outpost is completely battle torn, all of the inhabitants on the island are no longer there, with Ancient Isles University potentially hinting that Sharon the Shipwright may have been lost to the battle.

Alongside that, this island, Crescent Isle, Shipwreck Bay, Devil's Ridge, and Marauder's Arch have been covered in a noticeably thick fog with little to no changes to some of the islands' life.

Flameheart has taken a massive step back as his personally summoned ghost fleets are no longer emerging on the seas.

    Now this begs the question...

What would we be able to do to help with any of this?

What could Flameheart be planning in the background, and could these shrouds be a byproduct of his doing?

The first Adventure: Shrouded Islands, has gone live! A relatively short excursion all things considered, but we have made some damming discoveries.

So, spoiler alert, this is what Flameheart appears to be doing in the background:

Golden Sands was attacked and ravaged by Reaper's Bones Members, and they appear to have held some sort of ritual and offering to Flameheart at Shipwreck Bay, with the phantoms holding rune tablets and even the Soulflame Captain burying a Hexing Skull. Based on this evidence it's clear that even though Flameheart has taken a step back, he could be letting something fester for a better return than him bringing an endless supply of ghost ships, leaving his own skeletons to awaken the Ashen Lords... or Ramsey knows what happened to Stitcher Jim.

With the Servant of the Flame's involvement at Shipwreck Bay it leaves me concerned of just what could the Reaper's Bones be up to this time, are they beginning to start a conquest to rule the Sea of Thieves? What could have happened to the residents of Golden Sands, and could they be safe?

Our assistance with Belle has also given us a discovery, with the Flame of Souls making a return from Pirate's Life, these Lantern Lights of the Damned despite still serving their purpose, reveals that there may have been something funny that Flameheart or the Reapers did with the usage of the Tunnels of the Damned that we have been using since Pirate's Life, what could it be? We have yet to know, but we might want to keep a weary eye on what's happening next.

Feel free to make your speculations in this thread. I'll be updating and posting after every new adventure introduces something to speculate off of, and the OP will also be updated with that new post.

  • Flameheart will slowly go back to being a skelly, and we'll have to deal with him in a tall tale. Then we'll learn how he kept his spirit in his bones, and presto! Skeleton curses for all!

  • Just to clarify, "Shrouded Spoils" was a previous update, the first Adventure is "Shrouded Islands" actually.

That said, beyond what you've noted here, the final fate of Golden Sands may well be at stake over the course of this Adventure (where the choice is between seeing it return or remain abandoned as an Outpost). Since they did mention that we'll have choices available to us at some point. Granted, it could mean something different too, but that seems the obvious thing. What the choice boils down to, since I doubt it would be so clear cut so that it is actually a potentially difficult choice, is anyone's guess really.

  • It's hard to understand what the end goal is for Flameheart but I imagine he's seen the events unfold with the Dark Brethren and the actions in the SoTD during those TT's and wants to harness the power of memories. He lost with his ghost fleets because us as Pirates can return to fight him because of the SoTD. He lacks this power himself so is using the SoTD to create his own forces that he can endlessly summon. How he's doing it? not sure. That's my take anyway.
