Ancient Coin cost differences

  • I don't know exactly why but the Support suggested per Email to post this question here in the Feedback section.
I recently noticed that the prices to buy ancient coins differ depending on where you have bought the game. Users, who bought the game on day 1 via the Windows Store, pay 35€ for the biggest pack but if you have bought the game via Steam the same pack costs only 30€.
Therefore I asked myself why there is such a difference.
Since this is a Windows game and currently the flagship of the windows store I doubt that it is because of some costs Windows demands for each transaction.
If this question could be at least solved here I would be very happy.

  • Hey,
i am one of the lucky guys who bought the game on steam, so i am buying my "ancient coins" in the steam shop.
But i also recognized together with a friend, that he need to pay more for the same items, because he bought the game in the windows store.

I think it would me much fairer if the prices wouldn't differ between shops, ecspecially on something like the coins for the ingame shop.

For me it is strange that this wasn't detected or discussed earlier.

  • @bluebu Personally IMO life isn't fair, and we all know Microsoft is greedy so why wouldn't they charge more? I think it's messed up sure. But it is what it is.

Life might not be fair but that isnt an excuse for bad practice.

It used to be the industry normal to fill your walls and Ceiling with Asbestos til they discovered its bad practice due to the health issues.

When people shed light on things such as this, its possible for it to be changed.

As consumers we have never had so much choice on content, sooner or later the big developers are going to start treating their consumers more fairly to stay competitive i reakon. Especially when other 'me too' games start popping up.

  • I would guess it's because Steam has a better regional pricing algorithm. Maybe the microsoft store one doesn't update as often or needs to be manually configured, so it isn't using up to date rates or is just not as accurate?

  • Does the option to switch currency still exist in the in game store? I thought it used to be an option to not bother with ancient coins and just buy things? If that is still the case are those prices the same between versions?
