But i don't care at this point because im losing my mind trying to find a way to get good at pirate to pirate combat. The truth, though, is that this aspect of the game is just the most infuriating and badly designed mess i've ever seen - and the saddest thing is it wasn't this bad at launch - but rare ruined it with their "balancing changes".
There is literally no point in becoming a skilled PvP player (I'm of course not talking about ship to ship combat, which i really think works superbly) because it all feels like rolling a dice which makes none of it matter in the end. The unavoidable damage left and right, the extremely slow animations and delays coupled with very fast moving and nimble characters, the huge hitboxes, it makes no sense whatsoever, what the **** were they thinking and why in the world did they leave it like this???? It's like they did everything in their power to take as much control away from the player as possible.
As a competetive gamer who has played this game since launch i should be able to, with confidence, take down new players without breaking a sweat (because that's how high skill roof competetive games should be designed) - but that's now how it feels in SoT, and because of the randomness and lack of control i have no idea if im gonna be able to beat them even if they're just desperately swinging their swords around because they don't know what else to do.
All they have done is add more and more content when parts of the core of the game is still a huge dumpster fire. Come on, get it together and fix your game Rare.
So yeah, that's my little rant, hope you enjoy and happy bashing :)
