Today I tried out the Athena run of thieves haven which i spent 50 doubloons on, which isn't a small amount to me. I finished it and got my flag to level 3and all I got was a few relics and a few ancient skulls. So I was wondering if there is any advantages of an Athena run of thieves haven, compared to a normal Athena voyage which out of experience is way better and doesn't cost 50 doubloons.
Athena run of thieves haven
@endersend9 It is shorter and gives more Legendary/Athena Loot than a normal Athena voyage. That is why the Thieves Haven Run was so popular and had to be limited to once a month purchase from Duke.

@dlchief58 It's not limited, we did a bunch yesterday.

Hmmm, when did they change that back as I saw no notes about it? A few months ago they changed it to limit to one purchase per person per month. I know a lot of people were upset about it, but never heard of Rare changing course on that one.
It was never limited in the first place. You may be thinking of some other version of the game that we can't talk about here.

@dlchief58 change that "had" to a "has" and we can be chill
Yeah, that's what I meant! Wink!
50 Debs isn't much; one should start focusing on commendations and achievements early in game play.
Thieves is great for generating lots of Athena loot. The ghost ship is a bit of a grind but I can't imagine the grind it would be without Thieves. The key to stacking loot and the Athena loot pinata emmisary voyages is to get in a 6/12/6/12 x rotation by dropping a new voyage immediately at voyage completion. Having a digger and shuttler is great too.

Thieves Haven Athena Runs are the fastest way to level up your Athena Emissary level. You will get several Ancient Fortune cups, eggs, crates and skulls...including Ancient Fortune Villainous Skulls and at least one Ancient Fortune Gunpowder Barrel. It takes about one and a half of these voyages to get to level 5 Emissary. The Emissary voyage will then give you an Ancient Fortune Gunpowder Barrel and Athena chest at the end.
Some tips:
- Don't collect the gems unless you need them. Collecting the gems will add considerable time to the voyage and the gems don't do anything for your Emissary level.
- The second island requires a green lantern to kill the green shadow skeleton that will spawn and the fourth island requires a red lantern to kill the red shadow skeleton that will spawn. Killing these will give you additional Ancient Fortune skulls.
- Numerous skeletons on Thieves Haven will spawn with gunpowder barrels. It is possible that one will spawn with an Ancient Fortune Gunpowder Barrel so pay attention before you shoot as you don't want to blow that one up.
- If doing this with a crew, it is fastest if you leave one on Thieves Haven while the other(s) sail to the other islands - just find a good place on the island to stash the loot and pick it up at the end. (For speed, it is important that the one on Thieves Haven stays alive; but skeletons will spawn much less if only one crew member is there.)
@endersend9 the new summer event is loaded with opportunities to earn doubloons. this should help you get more for thieves haven runs.
