Ashen Key Master spawn rate decreased?

    Hi,

    If I do remember correctly last week dev update Joe mentioned that they have increased Ashen Key Master spawn rate for this update but for me it looks like it has gone other way around.

    Before this new update I was able to find Key Masters from small islands quite often and rarely Ashen Guardians. After the new update it looks like Ashen Guardians are increased but Key Masters have almost vanished from game.

    During weekend I was able to find just couple Key Masters. For instance yesterday evening I played few hours and during that time I got like 5 Ashen Guardians, 3 normal random captains and just 1 Key Master.

    Has anyone else noticed that Key Masters are more rare now than before this new update?

    It makes harder to get those Tomes delivered when you don't have keys to open Ashen Chests...

    @alatami1 Hi mate, I seem to have either one or the other! Saturday night I had 6 chests and no keys and then Sunday I had 3 keys and 1 chest so it is just luck of the draw I guess.

    Sailed for 6 hours yesterday.
    Found 4 Four Ashen Key Masters.
    Opened 4 ashen chests
    Only 2 of them had tomes of fire
    Neither of them was tome of fire 1

    @alatami1 I have had the opposite experience. I've had to buy chest stash voyages because I had extra keys. Completed all my tomes on Saturday. I've found probably 90% key master on islands.

    @alatami1 yesterday I had 7 ashen chests with me and no key yet...then I started island hopping, always small islands and found within about 1,5 hours 6 ashen key masters...so they are pretty common

    Knowing where to go also helps, try Ashen Forts. These will drop two keys in of itself.

    @alatami1 12 Ashen Chests, 4 Keys yesterday. But two days ago I had 5 keys and 3 chests. Seems a little luck dependent. I still wish they’d drop a Key Stash voyage for 30 doubloons.

    Yesterday in my short session.. without hunting for them I came across:

    4 Key masters
    1 Ashen Guardian
    2 Random Captains

    I'd say it's down to good old RNG

    1 key no chest within 6 hours while doing the Legends of the Sea in South of the wilds, Morrows Peak, Devils Thirst and Ancient Isles.
    In the end i buyed a chest on Ancient Spire to use the key.
    Got Tomb of Fire 2 and it's my first.

    I feel sorry for ye'. I opened 23 Ashen Chests in total, and got all 15 books. I even got each Tome of Fire basically in a row almost with only 1 or 2 duds when the new update came out (so 5/7 chests since new update and I had all tomes of Fire).

    I think it's because I'm part Irish.

    Can anyone please show me where it was stated that the spawn rate has increased for key masters? I watched the dev update and nowt was mentioned.

    Got tome of fire 1 last night

    Tip: Ashen chest stash voyages from Duke always appear to have a current book.

    After last update got around a dozen ashen chests but no key... always riddle, never map to found a key.

    Since the update I've put in more than 20 hours found endless chests, can not fish up keys, cannot find a Key master, find regular captains and ashen guardians in abundance only way to get keys seems to be to pay for them from bilge rats. Obviously something got missed in tweaks and the spawn rate for key masters is either next to nothing or nothing!

    Same for me, never seen a key master in the last month, neither could fish a key. The only way seems to do forts...

    Fished a few keys the last days, so this works...key masters aren't in the game right now...hope they fix this in the update on wednesday
