So the lag has entered adventure mode now sadly it only ever happened when a pc player comes 5 ft away from the ship anyone else experience it? Thoughts below (I used hard wired fiber optic also) what else can be done to stop it happening?
Laggy as hell
@chris-houlden Lag has always been there, and it's not something any one of us are going to solve. The issue is that the server you're connected to needs to communicate your actions to the other play and the other players actions to you. If there's any loss or delay either way then the server will be forced to put you and/or the other player back to the last known place/action you were carrying out in an attempt to sync everything back up (often seen as rubber banding).
You can check with your ISP, make sure there's nothing wrong in and out of your connection. Otherwise you're at the behest of the internet I'm afraid.

Not sure how you pin pointed that a different players machine would influence you in that way.
The data we send to the servers is the same, gets processed the same and sent to us in return in the same format.
My guess is that it has to do with your physical location and the distance to the server. The connection between you and the router, modem. Activity on your own network or some type of communication issue due to firewalls, port usage, etc. Maybe check your modem and/or router settings.

There are tons of people playing on terrible WiFi connections for some reason.
You can blame evil, greedy, monopolistic ISPs for that 1. Also, Ajit Pai - you can blame him too.
