Swim sprint item drop exploit

  • The whole deal with carrying something is that you're supposed to be slower than others. It's supposed to be a risk to run away with loot as others could catch up to you. With this exploit people are pick up-dropping items repeatedly while sprinting through the water, which increases their speed.

It doesn't seem intended, it looks ridiculous, and it's a meta that I think Sea of Thieves could do without.

Your still not faster then someone who is swimming fast without an item? I dont see any problems with this, and I dont see it was an exploit either, its a mechanic.

And to be fair, if that person is swimming away with your loot, you already made alot of mistakes to lose it.

  • @seanethermore you can also do this on land and this also works for both pc and xbox so I don't see it as an exploit.

Didn't lose loot, but nice jab?

It's happening all over the arena. People are leaving their ships to swim chests to the sea dog outposts from their island. A little silly, and I'm sure unintentional.

  • This isn't some new strategy, this could be found in other games with CTF game modes. Most notable this was an unreal tournament thing. I honestly hate this whole "It looks ridiculous," argument. Many things in video games look ridiculous, but if gamers deem it worth it to do, what's the big deal? If you find it ridiculous, than don't do it.

The speed isn't even that quick, they are in water, we have boats. Assert dominance by launching a volley of cannonballs at the swimmers.

  • It's a mediocre exploit, it might shave off a few seconds on a treasure pick up in arena but overall just carrying the item correctly will be better because there is no risk of screwing up the trick and wasting more time than you would save.

Agreed, it's simply a little trick you learn with experience, a small aspect of skill... it's fine as it is. : /

  • @mentimjojo Actually on land it is if you do it correctly. You can sprint about 1.25-1.5 times faster than someone who only sprints.

  • I always think people gaming systems are pitiful or just ill and dumb.
Sure the result from another pov isnt dumb, but they dont play anymore, they game a system to do what?
Become upperhand and win with questionable unfair (?) Methods, exploits.
I know majority if the gamers do so.
Many games are made the way you want should and need to aproach the game this way. It's like min maxing for me.
I always found these aproaches questionable Abs therefore dont like to play with most gamers and for real life as all is about to improve, optimization and to develop oneself and become better in all aspects i recently started to quit some relationships and tend to become someone who is separated and more happy when alone or at least not with such people around me.

Have fun exploiting if this is fun to you.
To me it isn't but i also stopped to Try to convince others from my philosophy or pov.

So, i really don't care what people do, if i loose the fun i just quit, because i can do other things as well that still fun to me.
Making Music for example and like with Martial Arts, what was another "Hobby" I know that to leave something be is neccessary for a good Riddim or a good Technique.
    Mushin, WuWei, one drops 😁

  • This is an exploit exclusively for players with low ping rates, skill has nothing to do with it. It absolutely needs to be patched.

  • @blownboats you can do it with high ping it is just a lot more difficult. And its not hard to do so just do it your self.

  • LOL you gotta be joking!

Mate it’s FAR from an exploit. It’s a mechanic which people use to get somewhere a bit faster when in a hurry. But here’s the joke.

They still aren’t faster than someone who is swimming without an item in their hand(s).

I dunno what happened that got you upset about this mechanic, but honestly the drop/sprint is not a big deal.

It's an exploit and look bad and make no sense from an exterior point of view. Either it's officialized and looks good and intuitive or it's disabled. You'll LOL less when someone catch your ship with a Stronghold Gunpowder barrel. The simpler and intuitive the design is with SOT, the best it will be, no exploits, no fake "advanced skills".

  • @jetorchidee97

It’s not an exploit. Trust me I’ve had people board my boat with kegs using that mechanic but you don’t see me crying about it

  • @agent-samuraii It's an exploit!

  • @jetorchidee97

If it was it would have been fixed weeks ago. But i don’t know how many support tickets would be raised about this supposed exploit and since we haven’t seen it in “known issues” in any patch notes, I’m assuming people haven’t reported it or it just really isn’t an exploit.

  • @agent-samuraii sure still an exploit!

  • @seanethermore Agree, this is an exploit of 100%, as well as a glitch with a fishing rod in Shores of Gold, which allows you to get directly to the boss while floating through the air like underwater. This is a game flaw and this should be fixed.

I mean I use it so what it doesn't matter if I use it doesn't effect the game in anyway but double gun should be stopped though
