My take on Custom Seas

  • Good day players.

    Here are some of my opinions and genuine desire to see improvements. First off, I am part of a large SoT based community that has a group of community members dedicated to keeping this game fun through custom events. We have done it in the world at large through collecting things or time based goals etc. We were super excited for custom seas. However.......

    Looking at the user interface. There is a lot to be desired here. The custom settings for the world is only one part. We should be able to save the presets for manipulating the world itself.

    I expressed several opinions in insider. Here, I am going to expand.

    1. World Saving
      If a creator places a ship in a specific starting position, it should be able to be saved and remain there. The frustration now is that to start an event, a creator has to spawn various items and move them. The positioning is not exact and the results are varied. Gamers do not like this. Most like fairness and equality.

    2. Spawn spawners
      Spawning creatures is clumsy at best right now. A small team of players can defeat most of what is spawned in the world faster than the host can spawn it. Additionally, ranged enemies will agro on the person attempting to spawn in enemies. An alternative would have been to allow spawners to be placed in the world. Spawners with individual options. Spawners could be varied in the way that options have been presented. A spawner could produce a (creature). Upon its death, a new creature spawns after (x) seconds. Only (x) ammount of creatures can spawn from this spawner with bot (x) representing a variable.

    In this way, a creator could set up a true gauntlet with conditions.

    1. Area control
      A creator should be able to set up a map fog. It could be circular ot squared. Anyone who leaves the bounds are destroyed.

    2. Instance control
      Rare have given creators the option to explore legendary locations as their own instance. Why not create islands and regions as their own instance for creative purposes? If a creator wants to limit interactions to Maurader's Arch, then Maurader's Arch is the only island in the instance.

    3. Ship Settings
      Allow ships to have items like unlimited supplies in the barrels or unlimited ammo upon reload. Ships could be made unsinkable. Ships could be limited to a certain speed by percentage of standard speed. Options for the anchor to always be set, or unable to be set. There is more that can be done in this category that would benefit sandbox play, use your imagination.

    4. Bringing it together
      There are other games out there that have allowed for many more options than have been described in this post. There are incredible people in this community that would happily mod and share ideas of the game for the benefit of the community. When you consider what has initially been posted, there are options that exceed expectations. The community are the life of this game. Beware when we no longer care to voice our opinions and suggestions.

  • Also add ship god mode. And faction switcher tool for skeletons phantoms and skeleton ships so we can create AI vs AI scenarios Add ability to invisible to enemy AI so they dont attack us while we watching them.

  • Time Freeze (besides players)

    Freeze all movements besides the players we can take some epic screenshots.

  • I have some additional things that i feel should be added to custom seas:

    • Changeable wind directoin
    • Changeable moon location (sun can be moved with time but moon can not be moved)
    • Keep time constant (so it stays at a set time)
    • Allow invincibility for players and ships
    • Be able to set creatures to passive or passive to select players/ships

    I love your ideas here with time freeze. It has been difficult to capture screen shots when the time is dynamic.

    My community have also had problems with ship cosmetics. The ship cosmetics are like the clothing options for ships. I have found that when a ship sinks, it reverts back to generic cosmetics. This can make it difficult to recognize ships during various "war games".

    @rare-dev-on please give us the ability to change ship names and cosmetics for custom seas for those of us who have and are part of large communities that support this game.

    Also, what happened to fleet seas?Are we not talking about that?
