[Q]: What was your introduction to the world of games?

[A]: The first game I ever played was Pong with my older brother (Beardomc), but I got really into video games on the Nintendo 64 playing games like Zelda, Super Smash Bros, GoldenEye, Mario Kart, and did I mention Zelda? Zelda.

[Q]: How did you become part of the Sea of Thieves community?

[A]: Honestly... it just kind of happened? My family and I have been doing Tuesday Night game nights for over six years as a way to stay in touch. Lowbobc (my younger brother) mentioned to me about recording gameplay footage and uploading to YouTube. So I did! And here we are!

[Q]: How did creating content become your ‘thing’?

[A]: Again... I honestly don’t know. It just kinda happened. I think what keeps me going with all of this is the stories people share about how the content I produce gives them something to look forward to and really brings them joy. I think the world needs more of that...

[Q]: How do you decide what kind of content to create?

[A]: Early on we wanted to share our stories with my nieces and nephews. So, with them in mind, I focused on a family-friendly gaming content channel. After receiving quite a few stories from fans of the channel about how they appreciated my channel being family-friendly and I was giving them something their families could enjoy together, I knew I was on to something. I am a big family man myself so it fits right in with who I am.

[Q]: What are some of the challenges you’ve faced while creating content?

[A]: Time always seems to be an issue. Never enough of it. With my wife and I having our first little one, I have even less time now. So as all good Pirate Captains do... I steal the time away from my sleep and wake up early to edit my videos before my day job that supports my family.

[Q]: What different channels do you have?

[A]: You can find the Cursed Captain on Mixer, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. I have an amazing community I’m very involved with on Discord too.

[Q]: What’s been your most memorable Sea of Thieves moment so far?

[A]: Man, there are so many! The Great Heist was an awesome adventure. Really felt like pirates on that one, but it’s hard to pick just one. There have seriously been so many insane and crazy adventures along the way! I have stolen Athenas, broken Alliances, ambushed, sneaky-sneaked and flat out gone to war with four other Galleons! Each adventure is memorable in its own way.

[Q]: What do you enjoy most about the game now, and what are you looking forward to in future?

[A]: What I love the most about the game is the ‘make your own adventure’ side of it. I love telling stories, so I have even as gone as far as writing my own lore and having an illustrator create some art for it!. There has been no game in recent memory that has delivered the adventures that this game has for me and my family. As for the future? I am hoping for a bounty system of sorts!

[Q]: What’s something you’re particularly proud of accomplishing in gaming?

[A]: Recently during a stream, I stole a Fort of the Damned key from two Alliance Galleons and hid it on another island. After attempting to negotiate with them, we decided it would be better to just fight to the death. Well, these scurvy pirates found out I was streaming and decided to go back in my stream and find out where the key was. We chased them for over an hour passing many, many islands and they eventually scuttled. We found out that they had hidden the key somewhere in the world. Somehow, through pirate science, I theorized which island they could have possibly hidden it on... and by the luck of the Whale Lord I was able to find the key! It was nuts! Still can’t believe that happened.

[Q]: How did you come up with your channel name?

[A]: My OG Gamertag was Hitokiri76... being a marketing/branding guy I knew I needed a name unique to me. So, I took ‘Hit’ from ‘Hitokiri’, ‘bo’ from ‘Lowbo’ and ‘TC’ comes from my IRL initials. Thus – Hitbotc was born.

[Q]: What advice would you give to a new content creator?

[A]: Make content you love and are passionate about. Don’t try to be someone you are not or copy someone else. Keep at it and don’t give up. Being a content creator is not easy and I am always learning new things. You've just got to keep going after it.

[Q]: What’s one thing you would advise a content creator not to do?

[A]: Sell your soul... no, seriously though, don’t be someone you are not and don’t try to replicate another person’s content. You can research to see what style of videos work, sure, but don’t lose yourself and what makes you unique.

[Q]: Could you give us one more random fact about yourself?

[A]: I come from a big family. Five sisters and two brothers. On our Tuesday night game nights, I play with only family. Beardomc is my older brother, Lowbobc is my younger brother, Dirnan is my brother-in-law, Sharpijc is my little sister and Jester is my cousin. We have been doing family game nights for over six years now and don’t plan on stopping any time soon!

That’s all for today’s Creator Spotlight. Thank you to Hitbotc for letting us look into his life as both a creator and a Sea of Thieves fan! Time for us to hide this Fort key on a random island and see If he can find it. Wish us luck!
