  • If you Host “Private” Crew you should have the ability to kick people.

  • Sadly, very rarely you will encounter a player such as this on open crews, and there is nothing you can do about it. But take heart, this very rarely happens.
Only had this a few times in all my times on the seas, and what I do is try to call their bluff, by telling them I am recording this and will forward it to both Xbox live and Rare as proof of unsporting behaviour unless they cease their actions. It has worked on all but one of those occasions it has happened to me.
Not the perfect solution, but there is little else you can do to salvage your game.

  • throw that pirate into the brig

unless your a sloop, that will be a harder problem

  • @needsmokes
Lol good idea. It's all fun and games until that camera starts recording.

  • @DarkGreedo
From 1 Greedo fan to another:

    Shoot 1st!

  • @darkgreedo sadly the only thing you can do is leave and start over unless you were on a brig or galleon and the people feelt the same you could brig

  • @tedgie2574 that never works, trolls are persistent putting them in the brig just means you played into their hands because you cant sell anything without the troll getting it to, some trolls will wait for hours on end its really a no win situation

  • @glannigan Nobody else can join Private crews unless you specifically allow them to.
Putting in a "Kick" to Private crew is therefor redundant and entirely unnecessary.

Changing the "Private" to "Open" while sailing to get some extra pair of hands is a risk you take. You don't know what random person will join you.
And giving you the privilege of freely kicking anyone who joins your ship when you changed from "Private" to "Open" just because you're "the host" would lead to people kicking randoms to make space for their friends right before cashing in hour(s) long trips. And/or just for the joy of being mean/trolling. So getting a kick option in the game won't fix a thing and instead just lead to misery.

    @DarkGreedo
It's unfortunate you had that kind of crewmate. What you described is intentional griefing. I'd send in a grief report on the ones doing it.
I hope you find better crews henceforth. Good luck!

  • @darkgreedo Its a slippery slope players can just kick players before they turn in treasure and add someone else, its just a system that can be easly abused.
What i suggest is that only on a sloop, the first player who joined that sloop have power to put the other player in the brig and if you are in the brig on all the ships you wont get gold and rep.
That would stop those lerches from being a burden.

There is no host. Everyone in the crew has the same rights and rank.

  • @darkgreedo Others have said it before me but a kick option only worsens this. You can brig someone and contrary to popular pelief most people don't like being restrained in a tiny cell.

A kick feature would just put people in a powerfull position where they can have a 3 man open crew, do a whole hour long voyage with you and kick you right at the turnin. And that's a lot worse then someone joining in who you have to brig who then gets his share of the loot.

My advice to you is to organise a little, join a LFG group on X-Box live or join a discord. You'll be able to join or set up a group with more regular players and you'll be able to play without the hassle of randoms.

  • You get those types. Sometimes it's just clueless players but unfortunately it's usually a Grief-er.

There's a Brig system. My suggestion is to brig them and send a screenshot of their gamertag to Rare with your complaint. If a player amasses enough of these then Rare "may" look into him/her. (just kidding, we all know it's a "him")

Besides that there's not much else to do. Brig/screenshot/report/sell (or not)/start a new game. A Kick option would be too open to abuse.

  • @darkgreedo Sorry your getting bad crew members mate that sucks sadly the best you can do is report them a kick option would be cool but as some others have brought up it would be abused by the same pirates that join a crew and are being Disrespectful

I always use the LFG Tool built into XBOX and always host.

It’s not like I have time to give everyone an interview and have them vetted. I play a ton of SOT’s and I run into this situation all the time. Dude sounds normal in
Party chat. But he’s just bored and trolling and the 2nd he’s in the Crew you can’t get rid of him.

Just yesterday we had a dude sit in the brig for over an hour. He’s yelling and screaming in his mic 🎙 and is beyond OBNOXIOUS.

(This was after he joined the crew and before we kicked him from Party and Brigged him).

When he was in just party chat he was super chill.

I got 3 kids I know when someone is trolling!

Just wasn’t fair to the majority. We’d been sailing all day together lost 1 guy an we’re just looking to add one more.

I should have the ability to kick him if I’m the LFG Private Game Host!

I only sail Galleons and when you lose an active contributing crew member - especially in PVP/SkellyFleet/Kraken situations it’s game over - for everyone!

  • yeah but Open party is anormal, how many people join your game and destroy them loll ? Give a status capitaine, that its, and for a galeon, put voting system... its simple lol

  • If you have a bad crewmate, the rest of your crew can always leave the game to start a new 1 - it sends a pretty powerful message too: if you are a jerk, you'll find yourself alone. Also, you can always submit a report ticket to Rare Support proving their wrong-doing to ensure that they won't be able to continue harming other pirates' experiences.

  • Why not just do a close crew instead? Save you some trouble you know.

  • I think the video game climate of today has created some really toxic people. I would suggest only having your crew set to open in the beginning and feel out your crew mates before investing too much time. It’s just how it is. I used to try to get gta heists done in open lobby and learned the same lesson

  • @prorapidkiller
because I happen to want to play with other people... and I just find that this game is mismanaged on some point, quite simply! if you find it normal to have to start a party again at each session because, a member comes to destroy the session in court lol everyone knows preference

  • I completely agree and understand why they do what they do in regards to the rules and mechanics for “Open” Crew but “Private” Crew shouldn’t have to deal with it.

Brig should be replaced with “Walk the Plank” for a Private Crew and host should have control.

  • Simple, never touch open crew if you want to get something done

  • Just look at recent player list, find their username and report them. Keep on sailing.

    I still prefer open crew.

  • Open crew is a very mixed bag but trolls are still a small minority.

LFG tends to be better, but still can have mixed results.

Discord works well but again, there's always one or two bad eggs.

Kick systems would have the potential to cause even more trouble though. I can already see the "I worked for 6 hours and got kicked at hand-in" posts. Any tool to combat trolls would also be available for trolls to use.

Really the best solution is to use the above tools to get to know some people and then play with them regularly. Obviously that isn't ideal, it'd be best to be able to just log in and play with normal people at all times, but Rare have no control over how people behave.

  • No but you can put them in the Brig or report them or both.

  • @darkgreedo

Perhaps if a player gets thrown into the brig, they could be punished by losing a level - that would seriously discourage players from trolling. Or charge them gold for their grief. Some sort of actual repellant against trolling. If there are no consequences to being a pain in thee buttocks, people will troll!

  • I think a better solution is that if someone is voted into the brig, they should be kicked from the crew automatically after a certain amount of time. That amount of time being long enough that the jailed player can maybe renegotiate his position and value, but not so long the jailed player is just trolling and forcing a crew to run short handed.
