So, I'm wondering if there's a possibility where we could get extremely dark nights without colored skies or moons. The kind of night that really lets you sneak around. The kind of night where you really need to use your ship's lanterns to navigate.
Just a thought.
Just turn off your tv/monitor.
Great advice... much needed. Such humor. What a champ..
Can someone give this guy a medal for that incredible comment?

treating serious issues with deliberately inappropriate humor; flippant.
My way of saying - I think the darkness level is fine and that we need not increase darkness for the sake of stealth.
Perhaps snarky, perhaps unfunny, but sells my point.
And I disagree with it, because my idea is to lower the in game brightness level so that you can barely see anything beyond a certain distance.
I think it would add something to the gameplay. Maybe the moon goes through different phases, though not as many as here in the real world, but all the same determines the brightness of in game night time.
I think it's worth considering. Maybe it's something for an "expert only" server or something. I don't know.
My reverse sentiment really stems from the darkness level of the game as is. It's BLACK in many areas. Forcing the use of a lantern already. I mostly regard locations such as heavy foliage, as I agree the beaches of the islands aren't too dark in the least.
I can't remark that it'd add much to game play itself, but ambiance for certain, it would.
There is one element that I don't think anyone could argue with - rather than as a game play mechanic... adding a greater depth to the shadowing ala moon phases wouldn't be a negative thing at all.
Just as adding shadows to the ropes on the ship aren't bad... in fact, I personally laud that.
So less of an 'increase in darkness', and certainly not for the 'sake of stealth', I can support the notion of even better shaders related to cloud cover and having the moon as a legitimate source of light rather than the transparency that it is.
