Then let him appear once you are 50/50/50 if there is no point in having him there before that, get rid of him.
The complete unsatisfying mysterious stranger!?!?
My aren't you a sunshine?
Tell me what's the point of a NPC who is literally doing NOTHING until you reach the proper Levels? Why does he need to be there? There is no point for him to exist until then. Every other NPC in the Game has a purpose.
@lowbei I doubt you're right and the way you go about trying to prove your point is just wrong. No one is insulting you, no one is questioning your intelligence, but you feel you need to be aggressive, but hey, it's your world, live it. As for the stranger? If he was only a lvl 50 NPC, you'd only be able to interact with him at 50. The fact he talks to you periodically through your journey kind of indicates they either wanted to do something or are doing something with him. However, much like everything else? It isn't in the game yet/ever.
He is called Mysterious Stranger for me, not legendary Vendor, from a Mysterious Stranger I espect something Special, like I said before a special Map with dunno a guaranteed Chest of Sorrow or Grog, especially when he says "Come Back when you are Level this and that" If he wants me to be Level 50 then he should say that from the Start, so i don't bother anymore until I am said Level.
Thats the point here, they make him sound like there is something every 5 Levels.
@hambergurler I completely agree. I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Instead of the stranger just holding a carrot on a stick and telling you to come back in 5+ levels, let him actually give you a damn carrot! A new shanty at each 5 level milestone would be nice, or perhaps a trophy for your ship! It feels like the stranger is made to reward you because of the way he talks, yet there's nothing to be expected from him.
I will, surely but the way the have handled the Stranger is just, wrong to me. He should say something along i dunno "If you're legend among the three, come back to me" (Which would indicate max. Level to me)
@lowbei I don't think that's true. We got the save slots in pirate generator and we got them to not put in the death tax. It's great that they listen sometimes.
@hambergurler I feel you.
The mysterious stranger has a feel to him, like he was originally supposed to do smth, but that it was scrapped and whats left is the stupid "5 more levels"messages. It actually applies to a lot of the game. You "feel" what they probably wanted to do and what the vision was, but it just fell short and didnt get made. Maybe they will add to it. I still have hopes for that.
But yea. Some kind of reward for leveling up would be nice, since the "new voyages" cant be it. Its just more of the same. Its really tragic, the atmosphere and the world is amazing, but nothing inside. Luckily its possible to fix that and expand on what is there. The question ist: will they do that?
And lowbei: dont even bother answering to me. I saw your replies under other posts and i got you figured out. Lowbei? More like Low-Level-Troll.

this has to be the more ridiculous complaint ive seen so far, next to the "im quitting cuz kraken sunk me" thread.
get 50 then talk to the mysterious stranger. thats it. thats all. this isnt rocket science.
If the mysterious stranger does nothing for you until level 50, then they should clearly say "come and see me when you reach level 50".
Your argument is indefensible and inexcusable.
The mysterious stranger NPC is pathetic in terms of actually being a mysterious stranger...they could have at least had some dialogue about Lore, some riddles..special quests inbetween..
I literally thought this NPC would say something like 'Get to Level 5 in all then we can talk' then you do it and they say 'Prove yourself to me, go to this place and tell me what you see' or something then you do it then continue to the next 5 levels and another mini quest appears. The OP is correct in saying it's completely pointless. Just have the Mysterious Stranger say: 'Come and see me when you have all 50'. There is literally no point even talking to them every 5 levels...none at all.@hambergurler that's a good point. I never really thought about a reward between each objective. I've been thinking a lot about the merchant alliance items and it would make sense to get some great rewards for reaching certain levels. I probably just didn't look hard enough, but I was pondering how to get more buyable items from the alliance. I'm thinking to just buy off the current stuff and maybe more items will appear?
@marshalledwards thank you yes this so called end game leader who give you the power to be pirate legend doesn't even have a story of why like who is this person and why do I even care? I guess I just like her clothes and will do anything she says that's about all I've got.
Everyone please just 100% ignore and do not respond to @Lowbei he is just a troll trying to derail the conversation he has no point and no argument just ignore him as I am doing and report all his troll comment as purposely trying to ruin a forum thread by posting nothing to do with the OP Is a clear vilation of forum rules thank you to all who support me in this change to the stranger we are not asking for free stuff or to get rid of him or her just that he be buffed with some story or lore between his 5 lvl gaps and that they serve more all perpose I'm game.
Again I don’t understand where I demanded anything. You are being incredibly defensive over a NPC that could use some tinkering. I get it, the NPC is for when I get to 50. But giving the NPC a backstory and a couple lines would be nice. That is all.
@hambergurler If you didn't know the mystery of the Mysterious Stranger, the Mysterious Stranger would still be mysterious!
@hambergurler I love what this game could be, and I sorta like what it actually is. But the mysterious stranger summarizes the core of this game's shortcomings—shallow, pointless, underwhelming, and hoping we don't notice because, well, it rhymes.

He's a carrot on a stick. To lead you to 50.
The purpose of the stranger is clear (eventually). But their method is purposely deceiving which leaves people disappointed and unsatisfied
Rare should have the stranger hold and eat a carrot on a stick. That would be a quirky representation of the stranger's devious method
@hambergurler I agree with you. I know WHY the person is there. I understand their purpose. But telling the player to keep coming back for no reason is just poor design.
I thought that I had read the mysterious stranger would show up once you became worthy, not just stand there all day telling you to keep going.
Good grief...too many trolls in this community. Everyone just loves to attack anyone with a comment, suggestion, or feedback. Can't we all just lighten up instead of being so condescending to each other? I actually started reading this thread because I was wondering a little bit about this NPC, but it's turned into a stupid thread.

I wonder if that is even possible. Say you are the only Pirate in your game session with a high enough level, whilst other pirates in the world are not yet ready. Are you the only pirate who can see the Mysterious Stranger?
Something which might have worked is to receive quests from the Stranger. When you complete a quest and return, the stranger rewards you and then requests you come back when you progress another 5 levels
