Overpowered or Hacking Players?

  • Let me know if I'm alone here, and perhaps just a bad player but, does it not seem like some people are either completely overpowered with whatever weapon they seem to be using (faster reloads in Blunderbuss, Speedier sword strikes, Insane accuracy across the water with a pistol, etc.) and like their ships are incredibly fast?

I just went for a Skull Fort on solo, which obviously was going to be incredibly difficult, but I encountered a ship with some 70,000 gold customization on it and knew they had to be good players, but the speed at which they killed me, the amount of INSANE damage they took from me, and their ability to patch a barrage of holes in seconds is highly questionable.

I landed near their ship and placed over 20 canons in the back of them (they were facing straight and I was sideways behind them) before I saw a single person return from the Skull Fort and to their ship. Then in second, they had reached my ship, killed me with a sword after taking point blank Blunderbuss and Pistol shots to the face and chest, and then sunk my ship. This happened a good 7 times before I ultimately gave up.

I call for a dedicated server for solo players, where we reach other ships of no more than 2-3 man crews. Being solo because your friends are at work, and having to encounter a Galleon of players all manning canons on you at once is an impossible job, and really makes the game horrid to play alone. Unless solo players have more value, like better rewards or chances to actually take down these larger crews, then there's zero point for me to be playing without friends, and I personally feel like I wasted 90$ on this game.

As for the whole hacker thing, I have no comment and hope hackers get banned.

A server for just sloops is a terrible Idea. You realize this game is designed to be played with others and if you are playing solo you are basically playing hard mode. And thats how it is intended. I recommend getting some friends to play with. If your getting pounded by big crews either practice being a better sloop captain or play with a bigger crew. You can solo que for a galleon or get friends.

  • @randumgaming All weapon and ship "upgrades" are purely cosmetic.

So, they're either hacking or just WAY better than you and using superior numbers to defeat you.

Another reason might be that they're on PCs (way easier to control the game and FAR more accurate w/ weapons due to M&K) and simply running circles around you.

  • @randumgaming Hacking is definitely a problem. There are some hacks for PC going around and I guess more and more players are using them. I hope Rare/Microsoft start patching and getting their ban hammers out soon.

Had a friend who got a guy point blank with a blunderbuss 3 times and the guy took no damage. It's getting annoying. He reported the players and everything so hopefully we start to see improvement!

As for the sloops, I'm against segmenting the playerbase. Once hacking is fixed, the annoyances should go away! And I'm always up for challenging some galleons on a smaller ship. :)

  • Sounds like a classic case of git gud

  • I don't know about hackers and some game mechanics are still a bit sketchy to me. But there is definitely some kind of lag that lowers or prevents damage from occuring at times as i chased an enemy through some water putting 2 blunderbus shots into him at point blank range with fairly okay accuracy and basically my entire pistol worth of ammunition all shots registering with hit markers. And said situation occured multiple times last night, but my internet was bad so i chalked it up to lag interfering with my shots somehow.

  • @randumgaming galleons won't sink unless you hit the very bottom of the hull, otherwise you're adding holes that dont have water leaking through.

  • Yup i agree some times it feels very strange. Something fishy going on lol
