Random Island for first spawn

  • So, as the title says, I entered a new game on a solo sloop and spawned at Salty Sands rather than an outpost. There was a message in a bottle and a free skull, so not a big problem for me but is this something that's happening now?

  • @daveyjay1984 I am not sure, but I think it is possible that it happens when there are ships near each outpost.

How many separate outpost bubbles can servers provide?

  • @mythicalfable It just surprised me. First time it had happened to me. Not sure if you intended to make that sound aggressive but maybe think about how you word things. I actually like the idea and said that in my post.
Edit no I didn't just realised

  • @daveyjay1984 i had the same thing happen to me it would be fine if i had voyages already but i didnt pick any up when i logged the last time so i just left the game and went into a new one and spawned in at an outpost that time

Had a thought about server capacity that then formed into another thought. Would be interesting to know coz if all islands are basically a potential place to spawn at, are the outposts the main spawn points and other islands come next?

Bubble = Room or an area a player travels thorough.

  • @xavtiln17 Yeah, this was my thought. There were minimal starting supplies on the island too.
Could you imagine a new player starts and does the kind of tutorial tavern thing and then disconnects, comes back and spawns on a random island. This could be a nasty way to start if you didn't know what was going on but had been scared away from bigger crews.

  • @mythicalfable this makes sense. As someone who works in a mental health setting, I try to be very aware of the waybill word things as I know how much a perceived tone can effect the reaction of a person talking to you. Think in text this is exaggerated, hence the abuse flying around these forums.

  • @daveyjay1984

I understand. Thanks for the clarification.

  • What could also have happened is that your ship spawned on another or in some sort of obstacle or got attacked by other players and sunk before you could finish loading (it wouldn't be surprising, especially if you play on a mechanical HDD since loading times are incredibly long when the game isn't installed on an SSD). Then it respawned with you on a nearby island.
