Game is not running in 'true' fullscreen but borderless fullscreen (vids inside)

  • Don't know if this is a known issue or if this is fixed in the final build but the game is not running in true fullscreen but seems to be more like borderless fullscreen(see vid 1 below showing mouse cursor moving freely between monitors when in fullscreen). This means when using the radial wheel or escaping out to the in game menu the mouse cursor can move outside of the app window. This also triggers the task bar to appear when the mouse cursor hovers over:

When the taskbar is triggered the game is no longer the focus in Windows™ this means you're no longer able to interact with the game world until you click inside the window to make it the focus again(see vid 2). Whilst this isn't a game breaking issue I can see it becoming very annoying if trying to do things quickly.

It was suggested previously that I increase my UAC security settings to alleviate this. This didnt fix the issue and I'm fairly sure it isn't Windows™ that sets whether an app has a border or not (surely thats set by the app itself?).

Does anyone have any other workarounds to try? or is this a known issue?

  • Do this issue continue?
    No fix ?

  • This has never been an issue with the game, this is how UWP manages fullscreen by design (microsoft's). There's no access to exclusive fullscreen anymore.

  • As far as I'm aware this is a Windows 10 thing. It's been set by Microsoft to be this way. I don't think we can change it until possibly it goes to steam and even then it may still be locked.

  • This really has to get fixed... I died once because the task bar showed up and I interacted with it somehow instead of the game.
That is something that totally is NOT allowed to EVER happen.

This is why this is a big issue. Loosing control of your character in the game space shouldn't ever happen, it's border line game breaking to be honest.

  • Well I find this claim odd.
I have a graphic issue with nvidia/ureal engine/lcd/fullscreen that shows red green and blue lines around lit objects like the sun. This happens for EVERY game running unreal engine for me like pubg and astroneer

the problem goes away when I switch to borderless fullscreen.

so I think that for SOT, fullscreen and borderless fullscreen are what they say they are because they obey the symptoms of this graphics bug.
