  • I experienced the same thing earlier. Could hear one friend fine, the other was muted.

  • Because there is no active mic indicator on the PC you can't really tell if someone is attempting to speak. There is a mute player option in the Crew submenu that is worth checking. I just finished a short Galleon run with 3 other players and it seemed that I could only hear one of them, the last to join the crew. This was a bit weird because one of the other crew members was mic enabled when there were just two of us. Anybody using the native voice chat on a PC have more than one crew member able to speak on the channel?

  • I've never had this issue. For me it was just the opposite. When I muted my crew mates I could still hear them xD (bug reported)

  • Hey all, i just joined the Crew and like this game very much!

But i have a question to this game option "Crew Chat Output" which you can set to "Speakers" or "Headphones".

Could it be that this option only is necessary and affects XBOX players ? And is on XBOX only important for people who using the "Xbox One Chat Headset" ?

    • If i'm playing on PC, audio output most usually is 1.) Only Speakers, or 2.) Only Headphones/Headset. (depends on which i have currently connected with my sound card.)

    • If i'm playing on my XBOX, audio output most usually is 1.) Only Speakers (TV speakers or AVR (Surround), or 2.) Only Headphones/Headset, when i have connected my headset to the XBOX Controller (Sound on my Speakers gets muted).

In all cases the game sound or/and the Voice Chat sounds get output on the same sound outpu, i hear them together.

In my opinion, the only possible way to get Voice Chat and Game Sound output separated is the "Xbox One Chat Headset", i remember that from the XBOX 360 days where i had this situation.)

So, you don't think this option should be renamed in something like (for Xbox One Chat Headset only) ? So it would not people confuse, because i read sometimes players could not hear others, because they had this option set to "Headphones" and so the voices of other players were muted. Thats my opinion, what you think ?

EDIT: I think the major problem is that many people could think if they see this option "oh, i'm playing with my headset, so i set this option better to headphones", and than wonder why they cannot hear other players anymore. Thats why i think this option should get a slight name rework. I even don't see any situation where this option could be useful for pc players, maybe remove it completly on pc ..?

  • Anyone can confirm my guess with the Crew Chat Output ?

Very interesting, as I'm on PC and have that option set to headset. I'm having the issue that most people using ingame voice chat are extremely low volume. I've had to increase my PC volume to max, the turn down all of the SoT volumes to 5 - 10 except for the proximity chat. Now I can hear people okay.

I did play around with the different settings tho and it didn't seem to make a difference, but I will try again tonight.

Yes there is an icon pops up above their heads.

  • @nebenkuh Ok, you set it to Headset, but can hear other people speaking? Thats interesting too ... so maybe this option has completly no effect on PC...? and affects only people playing on XBOX which using the official Xbox One Chat Headset...?

Would be nice if a dev of SoT could clear up this Crew Chat Output option :)

  • @darkwg
    Seems like it :)
