When i first signed up for the insider program, it gave me a gamertag, which is my name in game, on xbox hub and here, (OnlyLamp7954611). If i change my gamertag on the xbox app/website will i still be able to access the upcoming betas (if any) and will i still have my insider and founder badges here, or will it act like a new account?

@elephantghost26 You should be fine to change your gamertag, there was a time in the past when it seemed to cause problems, but that seems to have been sorted now.
For anyone who'd like to know, the methods are here for all platforms - the first time is free but after that, there is a payment, I believe.

Yes you can change it in xbox app, 1st change free, next one for money
@elephantghost26 yeah you will be fun any purchases are linked to your account so changing name wouldn't make it any different so it will all stay with you
The problem is that after changing my gamertag, that change is not reflected in Sea of Thieves. Even after deleting my ship and pirate and starting over, it still assigns my default/assigned XBox gamertag, which is something like KhakiPants56874 instead of my chosen gamertag.
I refuse to play as KhakiPants56874 just because SoT isn't correctly updating my XBox gamer tag change!
@talion-camisade I have the same issue.... VenusDog isn't such a great name eiher..... did it update for you already?

How long has this persisted? Effectively universally across Xbox any platform that uses your Xbox account will display your current most up-to-date gamertag. If SoT is not doing this, that may be a serious thing for them to look into as a bug.
@samanthafur did you have to change pirate as well, or can I keep on playing with my pirate? Will the change still happen then?
