A suggestion to how we can make ship customization more in depth

  • What if you made a weight system that would determine how much stuff you could add to your ship. Like if you wanted to fokus on health you could spend some "weight points" on reinforceing the hull, but the catch would be a slower ship and less cannons.

  • How can we say we need more depth in a system no one outside of Rare has ever done?

  • Ahoy! While the idea is good here is a practical example of why it might turn out to be difficult to balance:

Travel to 20 islands, get 100 chests, then get raided by everyone with an empty boat cause they can catch up right ?!
Good stuff, the only depth here is the depth of the sea floor upon which your treasure will rest.

  • @erikinthebakery I've seen alot of concern about progression and depth from people who played the beta and we allready know that the ships we have are here to stay, with only the look to change.
I have simply come up with a way, that I think would make the naval battles more personal.

  • @ironuzuka I see your point, but thats the fun part of it! If you only like exploring or transporting goods you can make your ship lighter and faster, and if you are out there with pvp in mind, you could equip it with more firepower.

There is the issue with raiders, that would not be able to catch anyone. But from i've seen, there is many good ways you could tackle that. Different ammo types for cannons to take out sails are a good example.

  • Yar agrrrreed. But we be talking of a different game if you add all these features to justify adding weight.

This topic has been covered many times by different sea lovers, you should check them out.
