Sea of Thieves rediculous pricing needs to stop!

  • @quadratatom306
Its 79.99 here in Canada lol

I believe that Sea of Thieves deserves the full game price tag.
And not many games that have come out in the past two years do, Rare did a good job with it.

    Just me though

  • @sloth-demon-685 i agree. i feel like if people can pay full price for destiny 2 and call of duty games being nearly complete clones of the previous games. then there shouldnt be an issue with this game.

if its not worth what you are being charged then wait till its on sale. but dont complain so much lol there arent many games that offer what this one does.

  • @toastywrath
    Bro...
I was literally thinking "If people can pay full price for trash like Destiny 2, they can pay for this" as I was writing that.

    Great minds, my friend...

  • To be honest, I think Microsoft would make a really smart move to lower prices by 20 bucks (and my goodness, let it actually be fair accross continents lol). Sure, the right price is in the eye of the buyer, but a lót of buyers consider its current price to be too high. I am one of those people tbh.
I would LOVE to play this game on launch, but I cannot afford buying games at these prices with maaaaybe the exception for a really really really worthy game. like REALLY worthy. SOT is cool and all, but certainly does not fall under that category. Which is a shame, because I do really want to play it the second it comes out.

  • @themisterff1
You should look into Gamepass, Sea of Thieves is included in it and available to play at launch.

  • @thor-von-blitz heh, I would love to. Unfortunately I play on PC and even though Microsoft wants to blur the lines between xbox and PC, the gamepass is still not available for us.

  • @quadratatom306 It's a 30 dollar game. PERIOD...

  • it'll probably go on sale at some point. there are A LOT of people out there who will not get this game because its 60 bucks, many probably just out of principle (I feel like it's pretty rare to pay $60 for a game nowadays, we're all out here accustomed to steam sales. this is no longer the dark ages of $60 console video games). drop it to 40 at some point for a bit and boom, you got the rest. can't see it any other way, might just take a little time

  • The game is a bit flawed and empty. Flawed in the way of some quality of life changes that have to be made (e.g. the entire mouse sensitivity disaster) and the general lack of content.

I think I should get back to the game in the summer, when my xbox pass trial ends ^^
    Cheers guys :D

  • @theamazingblyat Get it on game pass.

  • @jackthehammock 9,99€ just for playing 30 days? I would love to buy the game but even on key stores it's still ~55€. I can wait :)

  • Games have been 60-70 dollars for a long time

  • @x30nstillgaming said in Sea of Thieves rediculous pricing needs to stop!:

I have to say price is always the eye of the buyer. Back in 1981 my parents bought yars revenge for $70 on the Atari 2600 Was it worth it? Yes back then cause we loved that game as a family and use to go to the arcade to play and we’re glad that we could play it at our house.

Now the price for anything can be over priced but again that is the eye of the buyer. You might think a concert that charges $150 for a ticket is to much or a $50 steak is to much. So if you think the tickets are to much or the steak is to pricey, you don’t watch the concert or you don’t order the steak. We don’t sit there and tell the restaurant well I would of order the steak but it is to much. So please. Stop! telling developers that worked for 5 years on a game that the price point of the game is to much.

If it is to much the market will decided. If it doesn’t sell well then it will be on sale in a few months and then you can buy it for a cheaper price then. And if the game is great and doesn’t go on sale that means it is a well built game and it is worth the price. If you don’t want to spend the full price you have game pass which is $10 dollars a month or you can sign up when the game releases and get 14 days free. Now is free to much? Or $10dollars?

So again anyone can charge whatever they want, you don’t have to buy it.

I agree with this. The game will be in constant change every couple of months. NO ADDITIONAL FEES. You want a $30 game and PAID DLC? For get it. The game will die after the first DLC. $60 for unlimited play time & advancement. An Open world that's not a traditional MMO. $10 for GamePass and you can play whatever is listed in that offer because you, the gamer play 10hrs per day and are board with the current game.

Stop complaining. I thought $40 was a good option, but now I know WHY.

  • @theamazingblyat USA... all new games are 59.99. Whats the problem ? Good games aren't cheap.

  • I don't know which platforms you guys use but if it's XB1 then you should get game pass, that is how i play SoT without having to pay upfront, I hope that helps somebody

  • Happy with my money spent. Even with this inconvenient maintenance

  • @toastywrath Exactly.. Paying full price for destiny 2 was a rip off. Lack of content, and immediately after launch they announce an expansion pack. That company are money grubbers. I'd rather pay 59-69 for SoT, then that c**p.

  • @theamazingblyat try the play pass monthly subscription. You get this game included in the 10 bucks a month and if you don't like it you only wasted 10 bucks.

  • in germany the game is 69,99€ or 86.50$ :/

  • @theamazingblyat I understand that, but after 30 days you will know if you really want to buy it, plus you get a discount if you do buy it, by which time price may have dropped too.

  • @theamazingblyat said in Sea of Thieves rediculous pricing needs to stop!:

I really want to buy this game, but here in germany it coasts about 69,99€. I don't know what Microsoft studio/Rare is thinking, but it needs to stop. It was funny at the beginning (haha) but seriously do you really want to come up with this price? Crossplay should be a feature not something we as a customer have to pay for (as far as I'm concerned)

The biggest issue I have though is that nobody of Rare/Microsoft took a stand until now at least. I'm so tired of Rare talking about the "beautiful" game, yet it isn't worth 70€, no matter what they do. I've already tried to contact the Microsoft store, but you can imagine how well it ended...

Please can we as a community shout out to Rare/Microsoft, so they don't (Mod Edited) up the game before it is even launched?

Thanks guys and have a nice evening :)

Like i said in a previous thread. Games have always cost this much. Its no different than any other game. Just because people dont like it doesnt mean it should cost less. Back in the day i left an instruction booklet out of a game rental and had to pay 40 before i could rent another game.

I get it though. I lost out on no mans sky. I thought it was gonna be great and it wasnt. Thats the risk we have to take these days. I dont have enough time to game to justify a game pass so i have to take the risk.

  • @captvonjir the game usually cost ~50€ (AAA games) but not 70€ that is almost ~90$ or something!

@torxxfreak I love the game, but in it's current state it's definitly not worth 70€ and I'm not the only one complaining. The community has so many great ideas, I really want to see results until this summer. Hopefully one day the game becomes worth 70€, that would be amazing.

@LaVaStEw99 you can't really say that: overwatch was a AAA game as well and it costs 40€ (which was really fair) and it had decent content at the point of release. 70€ for a PC game isn't usual, for xbox players yes but for PC it really isn't + again the lack of content is heart breaking: for 70€ they must add so much more stuff in terms of story and endless replayability. Everything you do now is collecting random stuff, there is no depth!

Sea of thieves appears like an "early acess" game which should have cost ~30-40€. Believe me I'm not the only one saying that, after the release so many people have complained about the same issue. It was predictable though, that there wouldn't be much more than the final beta in terms of content.

Don't take everything to serious, I'm on your side honestly: I love sea of thieves but truth must be told!
