Hello Rare team,
I’m writing as a long-time Sea of Thieves player who loves the world you’ve built, but not for PvP.
I’m a roleplayer, explorer, and atmosphere-focused player. What draws me to Sea of Thieves is steering a ship across open water, solving riddles and vaults, finding treasure at my own pace, and playing shanties while the sun sets. For me, the magic of the game is immersion, not competition.
Safer Seas finally gave me a way to enjoy the game without constant anxiety or harassment from other players, and for that, I’m genuinely grateful. However, I was really disappointed to discover that owned ships aren’t available in Safer Seas.
For players like me, a ship isn’t just progression or cosmetics.
It’s identity, continuity, and emotional attachment.
I name my ships. I customize them carefully. They represent my crew, my stories, and the way I experience the world. When Safer Seas removes access to owned ships, it unintentionally removes that sense of belonging. I just want to play the game and sail my ship in peace.
Removing owned ships feels unnecessary and discouraging for players who want a quieter, creative experience.
I truly believe allowing owned ships in Safer Seas would:
Support roleplayers, solo sailors, and exploration-focused players
Increase emotional attachment and long-term engagement
Let players enjoy Sea of Thieves as a living world, not just a PvP arena, because I'm sorry but I will never be a PvP player.
Right now, I find myself logging in less, not because I don’t love the game, but because I don’t feel like there’s a place for how I love to play.
Sea of Thieves is at its best when it supports many playstyles. I hope you’ll consider letting players bring their owned ships into Safer Seas so those of us who sail for atmosphere, story, and calm can truly feel at home.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for the incredible world you’ve created.
Kind regards,
A roleplayer, sailor, and lover of quiet seas.
