AI Crewmates in Sea of Thieves – Something thats been on my mind for a while.

  • Literally they could just have the reaper merc skellies, but for your ship. They would take the empty slot of a missing crewmate, and they will just repair the ship, hold treasure maybe, and join in any action you're taking that multiple people can take, like raising the capstan and furling sails. They attack with normal skelly acuity when there's an enemy boarder. That'd be a simple but workable skillset, maybe you find them on islands or buy them from the ship supply. Or they just expand the reaper merc program to let you pick them up and take them to your ship if you have an empty crew slot.

So as a Sloop, you only gain 1.

and..what will you the player be doing?

They attack with normal skelly acuity when there's an enemy boarder.

and what would the player be doing...Plus those normal skelly are touchie with the aimbot.

We already have, BoneCallers and Reaper Chests that spawn near endless crew of 4.

Yep. You don't really need a lot, to make it work.

and..what will you the player be doing?

All cannonneering, adventuring, boarding, bailing, initiating all actions that can be done as a pair, raising and lowering the sails, manipulating the anchor, moving things (just because the skelly can hold things doesn't mean they're really making decisions, here, just letting you haul two things from one end of the ship to the other instead of one).

and what would the player be doing...Plus those normal skelly are touchie with the aimbot.

Name me a day a serious PvPer got taken out by one skelly alone. At best they'd be a distraction, a passage block, and an early warning system (as little as that means on a sloop). At worst they soak an aimed cannonball or two shots and need you to revive them.

Yep. That's exactly the reason my proposal is relatively doable. Decrease the amount, increase the duration, let them be revived like a reaper merc skelly. Simple as.
