Update + Features for the future

  • The currently available ship types (sloop, brigantine, galleon) are iconic and work well, but it would be great to have additional ship variants in the future – for example: • Light, fast scout ships • Large warships with multiple gun decks • Merchant ships with more storage space • Specialized ships for specific zones or events More ships would make the gameplay more strategic and better cater to different playstyles.

I would also like to see more variety and progression in the weapon arsenal, for example: • Weapons with different rarity levels • Light or heavy variants of existing weapons • Special effects such as fire, shock, curse magic, etc. • Improveable handling or range This would provide more goals and incentives for players in the long run – without sacrificing the skill factor.

The world of Sea of Thieves thrives on surprises. Therefore, the following additions would be fantastic: • Giant whirlpools that swallow ships or teleport them to other locations • Large new creatures (e.g., sea demons, sunken titans, giant sharks, or kraken variants) • Spectacular weather effects or natural phenomena • Rare, dynamic world events with special rewards Features like these would add more excitement and unpredictable adventures to the seas.

I would be particularly excited about cooperative PvE events – battles that players tackle together, rather than against each other. Examples: • World bosses that can only be defeated by multiple crews working together • Time-limited PvE islands or zones • Seasonal cooperative challenges • Treasure hunts undertaken by multiple crews together This fosters team spirit and brings a fresh dynamic to the endgame.

Additionally, more items would be very welcome: • New resource types • Rare collectibles • Materials for building or crafting processes • Legendary items with their own stories More loot = more motivation = more playtime.

A building mode for islands or bases would be a dream come true for many players. Requests for this: • A menu for creating buildings, walls, storage areas, or small boathouses • Tools for demolishing or harvesting wood, palm trees, stone, etc. • Crafting of items with functional uses • Small rowboats or utility boats for exploration or transport This would add a new creative dimension to the game.

Having your own crew home would be a great long-term goal. There you could: • Display or upgrade ships • Design crew quarters • Store resources • Collect rewards or trophies This would give you a personal anchor point in the world.

It would also be very exciting to have a sea divided into different zones with their own rules: • Fog zones, frost zones, volcanic zones, ghost zones, etc. • Zones that can only be safely navigated by certain ship classes • Special enemies or weather conditions for each zone This would make the world more diverse and exploration even more rewarding.

Thank you so much for your time, your dedication, and the great work you've done on this special game!

  • I like a lot of these ideas. Players keep asking for 6+ person ships which I don't think would work, but your idea of diversifying the existing ships is an interesting one. I'm not sure I agree with the specific suggestions you've made.

e.g. Introducing a ship that's always faster than other ships (presumably at the cost of firepower) would reduce naval combat, as those who wanted to avoid PVP could always escape, and would only be caught by people in the same ship type, who would then have no option but to board and spawn kill them as they wouldn't have the firepower required to sink them.

Not sure what "more storage space" means. Any ship can hold infinite loot and supplies as it can all be stacked on top of each other. And a galleon already has 4 cannons so not sure what difference adding more would make.

But as I said above, while I don't agree with the specific suggestions, the core idea of diversifying the existing ship set is definitely an interesting one.

The weapons are progressing and diversifying (introduction of grappling gun, throwing knives, blowpipe, horn of fair winds, ashen wind skull, burning blade etc.) and I am also enjoying the variety and would like to see it continue to expand. I think in this case though, it's really just about us being patient. Every new weapon or weapon change has to be tried and tested and carefully balanced, and given time for the meta to settle down after new changes. It is happening, but it has to happen slowly and rushing it would be a bad idea.

I like your idea of special effects though. Maybe they could introduce "cursed ammo pouches", that can occasionally be found? Like cursed cannon balls but for your pistol/ knives etc.

Love the giant whirlpool idea. Maybe they could also damage your ship and you won't know where you'll end up so players could use them to escape reapers, but always with a cost/ risk? Maybe they'll follow you through and your ship will be more damaged than theirs, or vice versa? Maybe you'll get spat out in the middle of a world event? Maybe you'll come out on fire, or boarded by ocean crawlers, or with your anchor down? You roll the dice, and see if they want to do the same. Could add randomness and fun to chases which would otherwise be less exciting.

I also like the different zones idea. I know we've got the devil's roar but I feel like hardly anyone (including myself) ever goes there because it's just too out of the way. Something to keep us on guard while we're sailing from island to island would be interesting. Maybe have something like the devil's roar but put it right in the middle of the map, so pirates have to actively avoid the area because it's dangerous, rather than just not bothering to go there because it's too far away.

  • more items would be very welcome

Idk about that. They already introduced reaper loot and now next season wwe be getting ancient stuff. Nobody seems thrilled.

  • While I like a lot of your ideas, I disagree with moust of them. What you are suggesting basically is to make it whole new game, in whole new genre.

I don't have time to go through each of them, but for example:

Adding weapon rarity to game is terible idea, because it would be disadvantageous, for new and casual players, making gap larger then skill gap.

On the other hand coop events sound realy good, if they would make shure players will join (game mode just for event, or other way).

Also some of suggested things are in game already: Gigant shark = megalodon

You definitely weren't picky when you were creating this suggestion.

To finish this. Tags aren't meant as collectibles. Showing more won't make you more popular. I don't see any Fan-art or Feedback here.
