Fix your anti cheat! nothing in this text is against pirate code dont delete it look behind you that wouldnt be fair!

  • [mod edit]
i am finaly rank 5 emmisary Athena's fortune (wich takes hours to do btw you should nerf that a bit aswel especialy for solo sloopers)
iam on the final quest when i see a brig comming my way, ok np lets put my sloop against the wind because its faster right?
Wel these hackers just speed by like there brig is powered by an speedboat engine, on top of that they are aimbotting shooting me from great distance with the eagle eye
Hitting every spot even when iam down below in my sloop?
Because i cant outrun them even tho i checked the wind 3 times and i was clearly going against the wind these [mod edit] board my ship ofc and have a laugh when i shoot them, blunderbomb them and sword them and god knows what else just to stand there and take it untill iam out of ammo and then they onetap me with any weapon. So their brig is faster then a sloop against the wind, they aimbot and are in god mode! This game is out for what is it 8 freakin years and [mod edit] stil dont fix the anti cheat? are you for freakin real? you make a pvpve game and you let cheaters run wild in your game and you dont care about the people playing fair and square? But you do want us to buy the freakin seasonpasses and ship cosmetics? because who cares about fixing the game when you can stuff your pockets with money?
Rare you should be ashamed of yourself that you are treating your paying customers that dont cheat in such a bad way. [mod edit] when it comes down to anti- cheat. Fix this problem instead of just trying to money grab

  • there is nothing against pirate code!

  • rank 5 emmisary Athena's fortune (wich takes hours to do btw

As it should but it also doesn’t. Can’t reach G5 in under 45min if done right

  • @burnbacon sure thats what is important here, lets forget about the cheater thing...

  • Of course brigs are faster against the wind, when you don’t have your sails turned correctly. Aimbotting from far away? Doubtful, people are good shots if they try. Anti cheat is constantly being fought against but it’s not a one fix does it all solution.

  • No anti-cheat is flawless, and finding a cheater does not mean it's 'broken' or 'not working'.

Since programs aren't sentient & can't make judgement calls, they can only find what they are programmed to find.
Hence why reporting is so important in any game:

    • Players are reported
    • Developers look into it
    • Developers learn of new cheat
    • Developers update cheat program (Or inform the makers of said cheat program, who update it).

Sadly, since cheats are also made by people; Said cheats are updated to find a new way to avoid detection.
With current programming limitations, it is virtually impossible for an anti-cheat to work flawlessly. And 100% impossible for an anti-cheat to catch people cheating in a way that has not been added to the anti-cheat's database.

If you see someone cheating, it means they're using a new (or updated) cheat, and they should be reported so the anti-cheat can be updated to catch everyone using it.
Because the anti-cheat can't update itself. It's not self-aware. So there's nothing to 'fix', because nothing is 'broken'.

  • This situation sounds like it has rookie mistakes left all over the place.

1: Getting to Grade V Athena's Fortune is not as difficult as it may seem, especially when the only voyage you should be doing as that emissary is Legend of the Veil, which usually guarantees Grade V if you pick up and return the loot you find from the voyage back onto your boat.

2: Brigantines are fairly fast. Unless there's an epidemic in a specific hack being used (unlikely), a boat type can only be faster than another boat type in the correct conditions. As a Sloop, you should be going against the wind, but you shouldn't keep your sails straight into the wind anymore, you need to prioritize a good angle to get a slight bit of wind, you should be able to start up faster, but without finding a way to slow down the enemy crew, they will catch up eventually. Sailing mechanics got a slight rework back in season 12 to balance the 3 ship types after multiple years of the brigantine being the most unbalanced boat in the seas in terms of speed.

3: The players you are likely fighting against are FPS veterans, who are utilizing the tools given to them such as the Eye of Reach to shoot you and send you to the ferry ensuring you don't manage your sails while running. They can also utilize the Grapple Gun to reach your ladder if they're in the appropriate range.

If they are "standing there and taking" your damage while on your boat, they're not invulnerable, they're "functionally immortal". Well-seasoned fighting pirates love keeping 5 pineapples in their inventory to out-heal any damage you're doing 10 times over, and since you're a solo, unless you have good aim and can catch a running pirate with your weapons, you're probably going to have a very tough time defeating them, especially if you end up in a 2v1, where you just lose if their aim was that good before boarding you.

Many of us can have our gripes with the devs and the game's companies for some of their development decisions, but this heavy complaint post isn't something to criticize them for. It is not a fault of the anti-cheat lacking, it is unfortunately a learning experience for you, your lack of crew, your sailing knowledge, your lack of movement, and probably lesser aim that could be improved.

  • @tesiccl "against the wind" so the wind is hitting the sloops sails head on, not from behind, which slows down the ship, bigger ships have more sails so get slowed down more, the only thing that MIGHT come close is if they have horn of fair wind on the ship, but i don't know if A) you can stack the effect if you have multiple sails and B) if it would make you go speed boat speed

  • @nex-stargaze every single word you said, spot on!

  • @quickhakker the horn of fair winds makes the ship go faster than max speed and effects all sails at once.

  • @maverian

Specifying a specific moderator is never the smartest thing to do, especially since mods like him are just like you and me, members of the community.

Then there us the part that fighting cheaters and cheating software is a war that is never 100% done, people pay real life money to get the cheating software, which mean the cheating software developers have a financial incentive to keep finding workarounds and keep finding new tricks.

And next is the facts that make clear that you are less experienced then you seem to think you are:

    • simply going against the wind without any ship/sail management is not going to get you away from anyone

    • every single emissary can be gotten to grade V in less then an hour, some in as little as 30 minutes without any weird techniques or exploits

    • shots from long distance, with snipers or the like, are not as impossible as you seem to think they are, for proof look at people like Sponge on Yt/twitch

  • @Maverian
    Do you play on console?
Find console/controller preferred in the settings and turn it on.
Less aggression and less likelihood of cheaters.

From what I gathered from prior discussions about the Horn of Fair Winds, is that it actually can go faster than a boat's natural tailwind billow speed. If this crew was using the Horn of Fair Winds, that's pretty fair game, and a very unfortunate scenario for the solo that made themselves a delicious target to be stolen from.

Additionally, the Horn only works on 1 sail, so to get an even faster speed (allegedly) for the brigantine, you would need 2 horns for both sails, and of course, 1 more for the 3 sails of the galleon. Using the horn on the same sail twice doesn't stack, so sloops are at a minor disadvantage if the enemy crew is a bigger ship with more horns than them.

  • @fysics3037 so if i had a brig and one horn of fair winds it would be the same as if i had the same ship and 3 horns blasting at each sail individually?
