Remove autoswitch ammo type on the blowpipe

  • When I'm using the blowpipe I may be using the explosive darts for example. I use all 4 explosive darts but then it automatically switches me to poison darts. But I may be standing right next to a ammo crate and intend to only use explosive darts.. well now I need to navigate the ammo selection menu to go back to explosive ammo.

    Other times say I've run out of lure darts without realizing and it auto switches me to explosive darts and I shoot the wrong dart by mistake because I didn't realize it switched ammo type on me.

    I'd prefer it if I run out of a dart type then the blowpipe does not load and I'd have to select the ammo type I wish to use, otherwise it stays on the ammo type I selected.

    I've found myself only using 3 darts, then hitting the ammo crate to avoid using that 4th dart because it's annoying when the darts swap.


    Adding to this.. selecting an ammo type is very unintuitive, and should be changed to either pressing 1 key until desired ammo type is selected, or holding one key and selecting the ammo type from a radial menu.


    Another issue I realized while exploring the blowdart is that shooting a dart and swapping weapons deletes the dart that was shot - even if you get a hitmarker.

  • Agreed. A few times when I was trying to hit lure darts on gunpowder skellies, it changed to explosive darts after using all 4 lures. Not ideal when I was trying to keep the skelly alive.

    The changing darts mechanic is a little clunky. I'd prefer tap left click to quick fire, hold left click to ads and increase breath/range (fire on release), and right click to bring up the dart radial (somewhat like bait while fishing). I've set a dedicated dart keybind, but it seems excessive. I feel bad for controller players!

  • I'd like to see a hold RT/LM to breath in and a release to fire, freeing up LT/RM for the radial.

  • I just noticed a horrible bug with the blowpipe. If you shoot the blowpipe and immediately switch weapons - the projectile will come out but it will be a dud that does nothing and you still lose your ammo count. Try it with the explosive ammo and you'll see.. no hiss and no explosion.

  • No thanks. If I run out of explosion ammo, I rather it switch to poison than nothing at all.

    This is the best solution by far, I was thinking we have too much button debt on controllers but couldn't figure out a solution, this would even be intuitive for this kind of weapon.
    I would still keep the radial to stay akin to the food and cannonball and throwables selections press key to cycle use radial to be precise.

    Simple. Make it an option that you could turn on or off auto switch.. then we can both be happy :D

    No water. Try it out for yourself. Shoot an explosive dart and immediately switch weapons. The dart becomes null.

  • In my personal opinion it should have a total of 7 shots that you can preselect at the armory let me choose all explosive darts if I want.

  • @bleu-solo yep this is very frustrating effectively meaning you only have 3 ammo to use

  • @hiradc and 0 ammo to use if you want to switch weapons between shots 😂

  • This should be a toggle option for sure. I prefer it stay on the dart I was using so I can grab ammo and it refills them quickly. Instead I’ve been only using 3 shots so I can stay on the dart and grab ammo. It’s inefficient and if I had the option to stay on dart when empty I would select it.
