Bone Caller are so broken

  • As a solo slooper who also plays alot of HG I find this to be just crying over the inability to adapt and overcome..... remap your unused buttons to throwables..... take the time to visit a shipwreck for your own bonecallers...... preparation is the key to winning in any battle! Remember fire kills skeletons and don't hinder the sloop too much!

thank you. it is very refreshing to see someone with the right attitude these days.

  • There are No rules in HG..
After PVE'n with my buds we like to vote up at the end of our session and unload our Sups on a unsuspecting crew.
Sometimes we just give em to an HG crew and log off. depends.

I am great at Navel combat.. Close quarters PVP.. im not very good.
I cant stand when HG peeps go for the board without any navel foreplay.
Once People board me.. i typically lose. But i try to prevent boarding by keeping my distance, hitting my shots so they cannot leave their boat.

What i dont do.. is ask the community not to board my ship cus im better & prefer Navel combat to TDM.
    That would be absurd.

HG within the open world makes HG so much more fun.
Some people want HG to be exactly fair.. same supps.. closed server.
To those i say.. Sorry, not going to happen, Not in SOT.

  • I threw a bone caller and they all turned on neon the enemies ship

  • i just have to say, if you are a real one you dont shoot curses/blunderbombs/bone callers and everybody should know. if you do you its unsportsmanlike, simple as that.

  • For those who don't know there's an unwritten rule that pirates don't use curse balls in hourglass

i just have to say, if you are a real one you dont shoot curses/blunderbombs/bone callers and everybody should know. if you do you its unsportsmanlike, simple as that.

No such rule exists and if you’re not using curseballs, you’re giving yourself the disadvantage by default. Tools not rules, pirate.

  • @locke5474677

That is UTTERLY absurd. It's a pirate game.

There's no "unwritten" rules, no "agreed upon" limits.

You use whatever tools are in your arsenal to secure a win within the ACTUAL EXISTING WRITTEN rules as put forth by Rare and available for viewing on every Outpost.

There's no "unsportsmanlike" combat in a damn pirate game and absolutely NO one in the community gets to decide what is and what isn't for ANYONE else.

  • @drackhon8528 said in Bone Caller are so broken:

@hiradc They are so rare I couldn't find in my outposts, and I don't want to sail to a skeleton fort. After I sink or when I start I want to dive istantly. Also some times you're too busy bucketing you can't use them

So saying that you don’t want to do something doesn’t make it so that others can’t. I’m sure most players don’t get the ship to 750+ cannons, 20+ chains and tons of PVP food before starting to sail, doesn’t mean that I can’t and when I am more prepared for the engagement you can’t say that I’m some sort of x,y,z player.

I am willing to sail around and properly stick the ship. It sets the tone for the fights to come. Also I have both curses for pvp and have definitely used and had curses used on me. High level PVP is using bone callers too, you’ll have to figure out the meta and do what works best for you.

Am I allowed to 1 Ball you if you cant hit your cannon shots? Same thing, I’m not limited because you refuse to do the work to be set up for success.

  • @thegrimpreacher

ofc there are...i dont mind people thinking differently but in the comp community there are def unwritten rules...you not knowing of them doesnt mean that they are not there...thats the absurd thing rly

also its so lame to hear the pirate game argument all the time..."heyhey...i can behave like this and like that cause its a pirate game." im not saying you im just sayin in general...saying its a pirate game is rly like saying nothing at all.

within the comp community its just agreed upon that people dont use the broken mechanics of the game cause they are OP or annoying or watever.

go use a ballastball in a gallyfight, use a bone caller in a solo fight. its just superbroken and almost wins you the game. in a competitive mode, its super useful people agree to not use them. where is the competition in using broken mechanics?

ofc everybody can do wat they want after all.

i still think its unsportsmanlike to use a curseball that gives any kind of advantage in an otherwise fair fight.

i rly think this should be looked into, to even the playingfield, better crews are gonna have more and better sups while it takes some time to sup up. especially if u sink a lot. it would also put a timelimit on fights or force actions in some way.

but yeah its not gonna happen.

  • @locke5474677

It's not a matter of not "knowing" them, it's the simple matter of the whole concept that random vocal people in the so-called "competitive community" deciding for the community as a whole what actions or tools are and aren't looked down upon as "proper" or "sportsmanlike" based on their own arbitrary opinion is total BS.

The very concept of "unwritten rules" is an attempt to bully other players of any game or sport into conforming to whatever random, imagined prejudices against a certain type of action that individuals (NOT the community) have decided simply should apply to everyone, and as soon as they find even a handful of like-minded people who might agree with them, they decide that rule should apply to everyone universally.

Guess what? Your total inability to cope with getting hit with a pair of cureseballs followed by a bone caller without sinking doesn't mean your opponent is "unsportsmanlike". They didn't "break the "rules". They used the tools made available to ALL of the players of this game equally to gain an advantage over an opponent who has voluntarily restricted their own use of the same because they unilaterally decided no one should use them and is upset that everyone else doesn't agree.

You know why unwritten rules are unwritten? Because they're not rules. They're opinions. Not even widely-held ones. Just the ones a minority of usually vocal people are the most likely to loudly complain about.

This is basically describing arena. Rare wants the HG fights to take place in the open world. You are just going to have to deal with teh supplies issue. HG isnt meant to be fair. it isnt meant to be one on one. Its meant to be pvp on demand.

  • @thegrimpreacher

idk you are goin totally overboard. the community, not single persons, the community, lookin for a way to better the gaming experience and therefore not using certain tools is totally fine and a good thing. maybe i shouldnt have used "unsportsmanlike" but idk. its not my first language.

and still everybody can do wat they want. its not rly a problem at all.

im not even complaining about any of it, i didnt make this up. feel free to watch hourglass streamers u wont see one single curseball shot unless the opp shoots one first. this istn a knock on anybody its just how it is.

me personally, i just think its not the best approach to go and loot curseballs for hourglass to give you an edge in that way. but still if you want to...enjoy.

  • I would disagree. They are so few and far between, that they take forever to find any real meaningful amount.

  • For those who don't know there's an unwritten rule that pirates don't use curse balls in hourglass, some people follow it some don't.

First time I hear that and I highly doubt it’s a widely accepted thing. I have between 350-400 fights in HG. It is by no means a lot but it’s enough to notice conventions like this. Yet, I’ve used curses and was cursed many times over. Why would curse be tabou but not chainshot?
