There aren't enough cosmetics for the new weapons. And a lack of new cosmetics in general!

  • Giving us almost no cosmetics for the new weapons and pushing us into buying the emporium ones because they look better, is not appreciated.
I would have thought that adding owls, continuing to make better ship sets than what you can earn in-game, and having an actual curse in the plunder pass would be enough for them. But they've got to try to get us to spend even more.

Even from a new player's perspective, this is bad. If a new player is using either of the new weapons, they don't have much to push for, the new ones are from side commendations and there's no weapon reward for them for leveling up in the trading companies. I hope this is fixed in subsequent months in the season, rather than next season or later. These new PS5 players are going to get to Pirate Legend in a month or two and wonder where their ghost TK/DBF are.
I thought that adding Fate of Fortune skins for the new weapons was a no-brainer, but instead I get two instruments and very little options for knives/DB flintlock.

Please, just allocate more designers to new earnable items... even the fishing rod had, idk, like twice the earnable cosmetics at launch. All you could make this time was 8 new weapon skins, some new equipment items, and more recolored Forsaken Ashes items. You couldn't even make new ledger rewards?

I will say that the FoF set continues to be an amazing idea by Rare and every new item looks great. The owls are an amazing addition and I bought two. This update is an exciting shake-up and I'm playing the game again. I'm grateful for what I've been given, but disappointed and kind of baffled that this was all Rare thought they needed to add.

  • Have to agree with you there. If I didn’t already have coins saved up, then I would have had to get my wallet out to fully enjoy the new update.. easily avoided with some quest cosmetics available or a quest that rewards you with the coins needed to purchase the cosmetics. I’d say this is the only gripe I have because otherwise this is a SOLID update.

  • Hey man I understand you're frustration, but they probably just didn't have a lot of skins ready to ship, I'm sure adding new weapons was something they were working on for a while then they just wanted to ship them as soon as they were ready, the other skins will come in time. It's probably a lot of work to design and create a 2 new skins for every existing set in the game. I also think the ship stuff in the emporium is personal preference I personally dislike most emporium skins in comparison to the ernable stuff we have, heck half the enable sets we have in game still aren't finished yet!

  • @rotten-rocko
I agree, the other skins will come eventually.

I think the excuses that making the new skins is hard, or they didn't have enough time, don't hold up. The Emporium team has had a consistent schedule of new cosmetics since the Emporium's beginning. The earned cosmetics team can't do the same?

It's surprising and left the impression that the cosmetic drought was intentional for the sake of increasing the number of Emporium knives sold. That's most likely untrue, but that's just what I felt when loading up the game. I wouldn't have bought the Crimson Crypt knife if there was a Dark Adventurer knife, but here we are. I'm responsible for that payment; it's my decision, but it feels scummy.

  • Yeah, I was really hoping for some basic, purchasable cosmetics for the knives/double barrel. Kind of an odd choice to make some of the most basic cosmetics locked behind the the grind, but oh well.

I just need obsidian Knives and Double Barrel cosmetics soon.

  • I thought there would be more than 3 cosmetics, but nope.

  • @rotten-rocko well they must have been working on these new cosmetics for a long time because the game has needed new cosmetics for a months and months now. About time they actually released some into the game via shops and missions. Not the emporium.

  • Personally I would have preferred if the commendations unlocked special new skins for the knife and double barrel pistol. And have the Admiral, Sea Dog, and Royal Sovereign being purchasable regularly.

Aren't the 4 sets part of the launch of the game? The Sea Dog, Admiral, Bilge Rat and Sovereign?

So, in order to complete the admiral set you need to defeat an ashen lord with the pistol and kill a skeleton lord with a knife throw. To complete the sea dog set you need to kill lots of skeletons with the new weapons. For the royal sovereign (green recolor of the sovereign set) you need to make use of the ziplines, scattershots, horn of fair einds, bonecallers and complete the tasks with the with the new weapons.

I mean, yeah, we had some of that back then when the sea dog fishing rod required you to get one of each wildplash, and the admiral fishing rod required you to get the plentifins, and the captaincy cosmetics for sea dogs required you to sleep or sit or play music, or the admiral ones that I can't remember the milestones right now. But now the thing is that the new weapons skins are few and locked behind more special commendations.

I would have preferred if you got an exclusive knife and pistol for completing all the war chest commendations instead of doing every commendation in the war chest tab in order to get the royal sovereign skins.

  • I suspect they will continue to add cosmetics over time.

  • @hiradc
Of course they will. But I don't think that gives them a pass for the paltry offerings this month.

  • More cosmetic things like sailor stuff from Monkey Island for dubloons!

  • They couldn’t even bother adding the recolors for these 3 basic sets.

  • @killzone1401
I can at least assume that would've been an easy add XD

  • Giving us almost no cosmetics for the new weapons and pushing us into buying the emporium ones because they look better, is not appreciated.

Some of the skins are locked by achievements.
If one takes the time to look around :p

I think about three for each not counting the store.
In time….and patience! They will add more stuff. But the first thing they wanted is for the weapons to work and players to enjoy them.

Besides, who gonna stop to look at a throwing knife and admire the new look XD

  • Only three cosmetics, and being very basic ones with two locked behind grindy commendations is not good. These should have just been available for purchase from the shop from the start plus like at least five more, and then there should have been fancier looking stuff locked behind the commendations instead. I didn't have to kill 1000 skellies with my cutlass or kill a skelly helmsman with the eye of reach in order to buy my first weapon cosmetics, this is a pretty lame selection.

  • @burnbacon
Intentionally misinformed as usual. I think I'll reply in your style!

Some of the skins are locked by achievements.

    Not relevant.

I think about three for each not counting the store.

I can count too. In my post, I wrote "8 new weapon skins", which counts the base models and the 3 unlockable models per weapon.

In time….and patience! They will add more stuff.

As stated above I also think they will add more in the future... But the future doesn't excuse the current state of things. They couldn't even make recolors? It shows the imbalance between the consistency of the Emporium and what can be earned in-game.

But the first thing they wanted is for the weapons to work and players to enjoy them.

Making the weapons work mechanically is separate from changing the look of said weapon. And most certainly accomplished by different people.

Besides, who gonna stop to look at a throwing knife and admire the new look XD

    Me. They're for me BurnBacon.

  • I agree with your problems (cosmeticsl kind) to the new weapons.I thought this at well
