Solo unplayable

  • What the heck?! Now not only is it not enticing to play solo...you can't play at all now that there's two skeleton ships that randomly spawn and automatically just to sink you and ruin any motivation you had to play the dumb game to begin with. This is just dumb rare. Way to implode a sinking ship. Thank God for Xbox game pass 1 dollar subscription.

  • The game isn't for everyone.

Personally I love playing solo, as do many members of the community.

It sounds like you wandered into the "Skeleton Fleet" event, marked by a giant Ship Cloud in the sky.

The learning curve of the game is a bit steep, but if you can stick it out it's a lot of fun.

If it's not fun for you, that's ok! Just move on to a different game. A lot of people like the Soul's game series, but personally I don't enjoy it. So I play other games. Find what you like and just enjoy that!

  • @captn-antihero

You were in the fleet battle.
3 sloops and 2 galleons happen to solo sloops.

Watch out for the big green ship cloud.

Solo = hard mode. Player fault for making it so but many have turned it into an enjoyable adventure.

Two skeleton ships? Did you idk…sail in the middle of a fleet? Watch the clouds above

What is silly is players come here to complain about there own faults and causes but blame the game and Rare. It 9/10 always the player who takes a game and makes it harder.

Breath first and check around. You will see

  • @captn-antihero have solo slooped alot… yes its hard mode but not due to pve… two skelly ships spawning on you at the same time ? That doesnt happen unless you sailed into the skelly fleet battle. (Big ship shaped cloud in the sky)

  • "I sailed into a world event then 2 ships that are part of the event randomly spawned on me"

So the real issue here is players who don't understand the game can too easily activate the world event because its in the middle of the map and it should be moved so its out of the way so people who want to do it can and newer or less knowledgeable players don't accidentally sail through it. I agree.

  • "to be rich is to seek"
sometimes sinking is a part of it, but it's just a detail, a frustration, a moment, in an adventure

unforgiving freedom and opportunity to explore is the gift to a solo

you make all of the decisions, you face all of the consequences,
you reap memories from dedication to living in the moment

Whether it be time spent here with us on the sea or somewhere else, adventure awaits. I hope you enjoy the search, wherever it leads you.

Wherever you move it players may accidentally sail into it.

I saw the skeleton ships for the first time yesterday. I assume that’s what they were. 5 or 6 Green glowing galleons next to a green fire tornado thing. I saw a player(s) in a Brigantine fighting them. I was on an island watching it from the safety of the shore. 🤣

That was an LOTV final battle. That’s Legend of the Veil. It’s a quest you unlock when you become pirate legend.

The Skeleton Fleet is in the center of the map, has a galleon shaped cloud above it. You want to avoid that whole area if you don’t want them to spawn on you. It’s a difficult world event to do alone.

  • I know of the fleet. I know of the cloud in the sky. That didn't happen here. There was no cloud. This is why I became angered. Maybe there was supposed to be a ship cloud in the sky...but it wasn't there that's why it was all random and stupid. Just like the kraken glitches and becomes impossible when cannonballs do not register any hits on tentacles, the skeleton fleet is glitched as well. Oh but since I'm complaining on this forum, it cannot be the game and it's all most likely my fault somehow because it never happened to any of you...right right.

  • @captn-antihero
Bro solo playng kraken is the easyest enemy you can meet there, kraken, megalodon sharks, skeleton sloops isnt a threat for expirenced player.
Skeleton galley is more difficult especially when they spam specific magic cannonballs. If you cant handle them always look for isle/rock close to you and park your ship there. Shoot the galleon and repair your ship when skeletons go around your rock/isle. Same tactics works with skelly fleet (i heard skelly fleet get powered up)
Just be shure you picked up enough supplies in your voyage.
I am always happy to random meet every kind of those enemies to fight quick and improve my ships journal stats ^^
If you play brig or galley those enemies will require more and more hits, so better get kraken on solo sloop than galleon with not experienced 4 players :D

Hmm I might try this tactic for soloing the fleet event. Just wanted to ask, do yo know if the loot stays on top of the water for the whole duration of the even + the regular time it takes to sink. Or they start sinking like normal items dropped?

  • @zig-zag-ltu
I dont know, i think it sink as usual, sometimes no time to collect loot from previous ships when came new ones.
You can try it, theres always a big rocks in skelly fleet event area, the hardest solo moment is 2 galleons at the same time if they spam dream magic and ballast or another crazy combination so theres more chance to loose this battle.

@captn-antihero Game is Dumb Ill give you that

Everyone is inexperienced when they start something new. With time and effort people gain experience and the performance becomes an effect of the dedication.

Skill is an impressive thing to witness but it's never a requirement or obligation to find enjoyment in something.

Experiences don't only serve the skilled, they serve everyone that tries. Something for everyone.

Quitting is always an option but I think taking a look from a different angle is a fine first step before making that decision is made.

Absolutely! I’m about as skilful at this game as my cat is at chess, but I enjoy SoT very much. 🙂

  • 3 things could have happened here based on what u said.

    1. You're soloing on a bigger ship like a galleon, in which case u are right, it's not viable... sorry if u like the bigger ship, it just wasn't't meant for solo play

    2. U accidentally sailed into the world event, the game is a learning experience and many people like that about the game, if this isn't for u then that's alright, u don't need to play it. Again, it's a learning experience and if u didn't pay attention to the giant ship cloud that glows ever so often then that's not on thee game, that's on you.

    3. It was a random event and like any other game that has a random event or boss battle... however, unlike every other game, instead of taking the time to figure out the weaknesses of thee boss and how to defeat them, u decided to complain how strong and unbeatable the boss is... I'm guessing Elden ring might not bee to ur liking either, those bosses actually have some bs moves.

Luckily for u there is one universal and easy option for all 3 of these outcomes, quit the game. Now if you want a solution for outcome 2 and 3, then the response is: Take the time to learn the mechanics instead of complaining about them. Ask others for help, either here or join others in the game. Solo has always been a "hard" mode, recommended for those who are already experienced with the game. Otherwise, ur asking for the game to kick ur butt since this game will do so to any inexperienced player, regardless everyone goes through this. Think of it as an initiation, get through it and maybe sea of thieves will open up to you with everything else it has hidden to discover. The difference being if u solo then prepare for a challenge, if ur with others then things will be smoother but ur still inexperienced so trust ur more experienced crew members. Many love to chat and show the ropes to new players if ur nice, patient, and respectable.

  • Solo is unplayable? Whatever you do don't let me know that as I am having a blast playing solo. Guess I must be the only one. Or I'm deluded.

  • well i will say i felt kinda duped when the disney trailer made it look like you could have jack sparrow on your sloop filling a cannon slot after completing the quest.

  • @crowedhunter said i

So don't let people discourage you here. They don't speak for Rare, even when they're quoting Rare. They only quote Rare when trying to make Rare speak for them.

Well, the OP coould be discouraging new players with their solo is unplayable.

You insulted their game and they are nothing people so therefore what they like takes place of their souls and you have affronted them on a personal level by attacking the only substantial(like actually existing) part of their identities.

That is a pathetic attack on people too. You "apologise" for people being rude to the OP, yet here you are being rude about others too. See, you're not as holier-than-thou as you like to make yourself to be.

  • @crowedhunter said in Solo unplayable:

@pumpa-cat I appreciate that you think I think of myself as holier than thou. I'm a sinner worse than many of you, I'm just doing my best. Which must be pretty good if I gave you that impression.

How else would I be so good at understanding you people if I didn't also harbor immense self-contempt?

All I’m trying to point out is that you apologised to the OP for people being rude. Then in your next breath you were insulting others. By all means comfort the OP by apologising on behalf of others. Fair enough. But don’t then follow that up by insulting others. It makes your apology seem disingenuous.

  • Why do I feel like I see this exact post every couple weeks?

  • @captn-antihero
I dont know what you think about Megalodon sharks, theres nothing about them in your post.
So mate, seems like you have no trouble with em or just dont meet em yet in freeroaming

My friend an expirenced player about 2k hours just drop the anchor and shoot it with weapons, mermaid staff or cannons.
I am not played that much but my tactics is turn the sloop when the meg goes around right on left side, ship turn and meg always on side and i shoot all 10 cannonballs and hit him ofthen than with anchor so it was many times when i kill it without let him bite my ship.
On sloop you need hit it 2 times when meg going to bite to evade his attack.

    What about you guys?

  • I’m a three week old noob who plays most days for about an hour or two. Last week I was unexpectedly attacked by a kraken. I was a single slooper. I managed to beat it without much difficulty. If I can do that, anybody can.

  • As a solo who regularly sinks skeleton fleets IN A BRIGANTINE, I recommend more training.

Consult the youtube content creators and practice.

I was killing fleets from day 1 as i started watching the videos before i started playing.

Its is just a case of getting more competent. Stick with it youll get there
