Non-gigantic marine life improvement suggestion..

  • Sharks must be lonely at the sea of thieves though.. Some fishes, whales, dolphins, turtles... U know, animals that don`t want to eat you would be cool.

  • @postarekk Ahoy matey!

They did recently get the Sirens too down there... but aye, there could be more!
    Any suggestions?

  • @musicmee True that, totally forgot about them, nice work with the Sirens by the way! I`ve added some suggestions at the comment up there. I know that is not easy to make it happen... but yeah, even small ones like crabs or oysters would make a less empty sea right? We already have gestures and enemies based on this animals, it could just make thigs more interesting.

  • @musicmee sea turtles mate

  • @musicmee also, maybe stuff like stingrays, manta rays, dolphins, etc

  • It would be cool to get more life but only as long as it does not put more strain on the servers

  • @musicmee Since ye' asked...
Hammerhead Sharks: A nice alternative to the one's we already see, perhaps they could be faster, yet weaker, adding some variety in shark gameplay.

Mantarays: These gentle giants (Yes, giant, but not like the megalodon or the kraken) could perhaps swim alongside our ships from time to time during the nightly hours, a strange, yet mystifying bioluminescent glow from the patterns on their back.

Stingrays: In bays and inland reefs like at Shark Bait Cove these could be an interesting addition to the shallow waters, providing a hazard for the unwary pirate with shotty footwork through the waters. Could also provide the poison flame of fate given the venom of their barbs.

Dolphins: For those one us with poor eyesight, dolphins could be rather pleasant identifier of shipwrecks. As an added detail, perhaps providing them with a fresh fish (uncooked) could result in them aiding in the retrieval of sunken goods from the wreck. I myself have had issues with many deep wrecks before, having began to drown on my way up, and could see this as a nice little gimmick and benefit for those who put the time in to fish or raid the local seafort for uncooked fish.

Octopi: Although these smaller cephalopods are but a grain of sand in comparison to the larger Krakens of the sea, their intrigue of sunken (storage) chests have made them a nuisance to salvagers of shipwrecks, as they temporarily blind the would-be profiteer with a cloud of ink before fleeing into the deeper waters. Essentially if you come across one of those storage chests, you might open it to find an octopus that can blind you. Maybe make them unmovable until opened once or something. Could counter the inky surprise by opening it from behind. (Maybe for a fun commendation, a new Scar that is covered in Octopi suction cup marks, the signs of one who has tussled with our eight-legged friends on more than one case.)

Crabs: Found along shores and in shallow waters, can be hunted for a quick health boost, granted that you can sneak up on them or somehow catch them. Be careful, they pinch. (Yes I know, we all love our little crab friend from the trailers, but I mean, a number of our outfits do include the claws of their brethren adorning our weapons, equipment, hair/beards, and clothing). Alternatively, this could be used as a chance for the lobster trap to finally see use, along with a float to mark where they are. Could even add lobsters then, another fine crustacean for food. Bait them, set them, and return after a bit to check on them. Could use it as another way to get the treacherous plunder.

  • @sargent-sully there it is

  • Skelton sharks anyone?

  • @sailorkek I just think of pirates of the Caribbean😂

  • @sailorkek Ooohh actually, imagine that for some Tall Tale in the Sea of the Damned? Like, picture dealing with some Skeleton Lord there whose fight partially incorporates you away from your ship and in the water having to deal with them. Maybe their demise could be the result of a keg blowing out a platform they are on, dumping them into the skeletal shark infested waters. A bit brutal, yes, but it IS a skeleton afterall.

  • Perhaps some "Monsterous" variants of a few existing fish that exist without needing to fish for them- For example,

Wreckers- Spawn around Shipwrecks, roughly the size of Pigs, deal 25% damage when they attack, swim about as fast as a player, and their lure has the same glint effect as loot seen from a distance

Stormfish- Spawn in the storm, roughly the size of a shark, will "charge" the player similarly to a sword lunge and deal 75% damage unless you can dodge it.

Islehoppers- Spawn near the shores of islands, about the size of a chicken, generally passive unless players get too close. If players get too close, they'll puff up and deal poison damage on contact.

Devilfish- Spawn in the roar, Smallest and weakest of the "monsterous" variants, but they Spawn in swarms. Die in one hit, deal 10% damage, but there's a lot of 'em.
