Add Stongboxes

  • Rare, Please add a ship item called a Strongbox. These used to be used on ships to store explosives and gunpowder safely. If added they could be a fixed item on the ship that can't be moved below the ship and can hold 1 powder key through F key interaction of the Strongbox and then it must be closed.

This would be really interesting, and could allow crews to use kegs during Naval combat. Even drop methods would now be viable. So i could trick a ship into running into a keg or something during Naval. Which realistically happened alot and I sometimes wish more people were using this as a method with kegs.

Unfortunately their too risky, but this idea would make it viable without being unbalanced.

  • I really don’t understand that need to be as safe as possible when playing a pirate game. The game would be soo boring if we were to implement everything people want. I ve seen Safe storage for kegs, ability to lock yourself downstairs when boarded so you don’t have to fight, ability to raise ladders so no one can board, nerf all weapons, remove the ability to see when reaper 5, and ability to flee with all your loot through portal. The risk is what makes this game fun and produce the best story.

  • @lafrules Honestly I don't see the problem with allowing you to store a few kegs this way so long boarders can then check and grab one from it too. For instance lightning will still blow up a keg in the hull which makes 0 sense. I think its a cool idea.

  • @lafrules Im with you man, i love pvp. I just want more ways to do it. I like the idea of having 1 keg and throwing it during naval is all.

  • @starquest Yea the balance is debatable, why I suggested only holding 1 through interact so you can't stack a bunch on there on top of each other. So there would be an invisible wall within the open door of the box preventing players from stacking more than 1 inside.

You can literally already do that. You just don't have the safety net you are requesting.

  • @dlchief58 i know

  • With great (destructive) power comes a bigger risk. If you want to use the kegs, there should be a risk when transporting them. There should always be a balance. This system could also be used to store valuable Athena kegs, without the risk of loosing them (and the ship.) No loot should be protected.

Keep it the way it is.

    No thanks, Why?

could allow crews to use kegs during Naval combat

You can already do this...why add a feature for something we been doing since D1?

Even drop methods would now be viable. So i could trick a ship into running into a keg or something during Naval.

Again..we can already do this. But with how it is now, at least "tricking" is more a tactics and clever planning.

but this idea would make it viable without being unbalanced.

The Risk = Reward. You risk having a powerful item on your own ship and it blowing yourself up. But a reward if used right can change a battle. So no...

After a quick search, I knew this had been asked before. Within this year it seems.

  • @burnbacon Sry bacon i worded that oddly as if i didn't already know you could. lol. So Listen, this idea purely came up when i was thinking about how real pirate ships used to have this item on their ships. Then thinking about balance, in a game like this.

  • As someone who loves doing silly keg plays, here's what I'm gonna say; Being able to keep one funny red Barrel safe is not gonna put me at any less risk of blowing up. Still gotta pull it out of the box to use it, risking it getting sniped in my hands, still gotta worry about boarders finding it and lighting the fuse, and- To be entirely honest- I'm probably gonna have more than what I could fit in a strongbox elsewhere on the ship. I get the knee-jerk reaction of saying That this would mess with the balance, but I've gotta disagree. One keg kept safely won't outweigh the five others in the crow's nest.

Funny enough, the biggest change I could see from this isn't PVP related at all- it's that selling kegs would become more viable.

Overall, though, I dig the idea

  • @dudefiik Thank you, and for your point about it still not being safe also thank you, someone who gets it.
