Cheaters are becoming an increasing problem.

  • I don't typically call anyone cheaters even if I suspect them to be one, there has only been a few times in Sea of Thieves where I could say without a doubt someone was cheating.

Lately though I have been seeing more and more suspicious players, I even watch other peoples videos where they encountered a cheater and some of the videos it is undeniable.

Earlier today I suspected a guy of cheating so I decided to test him and see, I positioned my ship so that way he would follow behind me, I jumped in the water and swam down 50 feet or so, I couldn't really even see the surface of the water anymore, well just as expected this guy shoots me twice as he sailed by and I know for a fact he could not see me let alone shoot me twice back to back with perfect accuracy.

I know a lot of you will defend these cheaters as always, I see many posts on the subject but according to a lot of you cheating isn't a problem or just impossible all together. Either you do not engage in PvP often or you're maybe a cheater yourself, either way cheaters are out there and there seems to be more now than ever.

  • No, we don't support cheating. The community support good pvp tactics and shun whining about failure but cheating is never acceptable and the devs take it very seriously too. I recommend that you send out a report to rare by clicking on the support tab, and then on the "submit a report" button but next time make sure you have a video clip saved as proof. "Word of mouth" makes it hard to accuse others of something and to force them to pay the consequences. There's a lot of new cheaters going around especially around the YouTube community, and it's something I think the SoT community might agree with, when I say it's becoming a growing problem again.

  • @red0demon0 I have submitted a report with proof, I guess no way of knowing if action was taken but I am sure it will be since the video shows the guy was clearly cheating. I am just hoping that Rare can come up with a really good anti cheat system soon.

  • 80% of the time, it’s not cheating, it’s just highly skilled players mixed with hit-reg issues.

If you truly believe someone is cheating and you can prove it, report them here.

  • @aribalam I sent the report. And I agree most of the time the other guy isn't cheating and this is why I am so hesitant to call someone a cheater, but some times it's clear as day they are cheating.

  • @tek-lt they’ll replay back to you in a few days telling you if someone was given a temporary ban and warned.

  • @tek-lt Glad to hear. Even if Rare comes up with a good anti cheat, there are hackers out there that will find a way to circumvent the system, that's why it's important for Rare not to let their guard down. Make Sure you click your email in the coming days, they will reply back if they require additional information. I've gone through the process before and they do take cheating seriously. Rare isn't a perfect a company but got to give them credit where it's due, from experience, they do a great job of listening to the community

  • If you swam deep underwater and the guy still hit you, odds are he was cheating. This is one of the few ways to confirm that someone is using an aimbot, because it's incredibly obvious evidence, and if you have video there will likely be action.

No one defends cheaters. A lot of people throw out haccusations on things that can explained, which is what generally gets argued against.

Baiting cheaters into doing something impossible is pretty damning.
