Windows task bar issue

  • Hello everyone. I know it has been posted many times and I've tried it all at this point,so I am posting this in hopes I will get some fresh answers.

I play in fullscreen always. If my mouse pointer gets to the top or bottom of the screen in game looking around ect. The task bars pop up overlapping my game screen and cause whatever I'm doing to stop until I center back up and click on the game screen again. I have tried the regedit workaround,I have messed with my user settings in windows,I have closed explorer.exe in task manager while in game,I have updated windows and my Nvidia card drivers,I repaired/reset my Sea of Thieves data,I re-downloaded the Xbox app and tried launching it that way,I cleared all apps and shortcuts from my taskbar, everything I can think of I've tried it,and I've tried everything I have found on Google so far.

The odd thing is...I had SoT installed last year,I quit right around December and I just now came back, actually bought the game outright instead of using game pass, and I never had this issue before back then. But first thing I noticed when I booted it up yesterday for the first time was the task bar issue..and it is VERY unplayable with this issue. Can't do anything worth doing because of it. Any help would be great because I'm losing my mind here. Thank you very much fellow pirates 👍

  • Try resetting your Windows Explorer in Task Manager. You may have to do it each session like I have to but it fixes it for the session.

  • Yeah like I said,I tried that and it still does it even for that session.

  • @shinkaz88

I have messed with my user settings in windows

    Did you try this?

There is also a 3rd party program.

  • @foxdodge Yes I tried hiding the taskbar,in desktop and tablet mode just to be sure. Still same issue.

I will try that third party thing later when I get home. I really don't understand why this is happening.

  • @foxdodge so I'm using the third party app,and it works for the bottom bar when I use cry+t to hide it..but the top bar still shows up.

  • @shinkaz88 Maybe there's a better program out there that does the same thing. I'm glad it's working for you a bit though.

  • The task manager fix works for me,closing out explorer.exe in game, but it's a huge hassle to go back and forth..but as of right now that seems to be the best way. I hope this gets fixed..bothers me knowing it didn't happen before, and some people never have to deal with it. I don't understand that at all
