Getting rid of spawn Animation when entering game.

  • Problem: Every consistent Sea of Thieves player knows how annoying it is when you have loaded into the game and you got to sit through the same animation that you see EVERY SINGLE TIME you load in.

It is not that bad for those on pc and next gen consoles, but when so much time is being wasted on normal loading screens for us xbox one players, this animation is just awful.

Solution: Get rid of the animation completely, or a least provide a skip button.

  • I enjoy it. It also slows down those who wanna server jump a lot which is in itself a bad habit.

  • I 100% agree. Also server jumping is not a problem. What is a problem is trying to find a crew that actually knows how to play the game......which is why server hopping occurs.

Server hopping is not a problem, the reason why people server hop is because they either want to PvP or need better crewmates. It is their decision to do what they want, and the rest of us got to sit through it too even if we are not hopping.

How do you enjoy it? It does nothing, at least you can still move when you receive papers for a voyage, it is the same concept.

  • Video settings on Xbox.. Auto skip intro animation

  • @youngmeezy that's only the animation for going into menus

  • @rockaceyt yes this is the worst addition to the game period
Maybe cool the first time but after that who wants to stare at a table for 2 minutes for absolutely no reason every time you enter a game. At least give a setting to remove like the intro animation

  • Only people complaining is PvP hoppers.

    I want it prolonged!!!

20s maybe, let us have a rat sniffing and a bottle rolling ob the table to increase immersion everytime we start Session.

Would be great to get some immersive cinematic!

  • @stundorn

Agreed, I only see it once per day, it's no big deal.

  • @wagstr

i just like to start every session/ day in SoT in the Tavern waking up from the glorious party we had before ;D
It makes me feel like a b00zer pirate and a real ol' drunken dirty dxxchebag :D

  • @stundorn

I wake up irl like that most weekend mornings.. Makes me feel quite at home :D

  • Oops, i fear this animation is perfectly depicting how i feel when i finally can play after a long Early shift ... i lift up my head , finally, after a long loadingtime , you know i try to buy an Xbox X Series X but the damn thing doesn't seem to be able to travel over the Silkroute ,lately... So i get up but fall down again as tiredness strikes me down ...Then... i hear my Friends through my microphone " Get up ,George , Get Up!!!... There is no tomorrow ". Then i crawl back up , my fingers starts tingling , my Heart pumps and suddenly my ( * peanut) brain shoots out adrenaline and Ooooh Yeah , Clumsy George is reborn again...So in short ( * Whahahaahaa , in short ...he had you all by the coconuts there) i don't mind the animation and those few seconds do not need to be erased for me...

  • I also agree with this, at the least an option to turn it off like the other intro animation.

Edit: I’m not much a pvp guy, I just like to get started as soon as I load in. I want to get going right away!

  • Thats one of most the annoying things in sot xD

  • @rockaceyt I am on an Xbox One X and have consistently sailed since the closed alpha and have had no problems with it. Please understand that you don't speak for everyone, much less the majority of pirates.

Server hopping is a problem. It negatively impacts server performance and increases negative pirate encounters way above the expected norms/average.

    2 minutes? Try 3 seconds... 🙄

  • If anything, the only thing that needs changing is the variety of intro animations, IMO. Instead of always waking up at the round table, you should have more tavern locations to start at, such as by the bar, on the bench, by the fire, falling down the broken stairs, etc.

This way it will help make the SoT feel more immersive and lived in.

If you're still running that antiquated piece of hardware, then you're definitely due for an upgrade.

That just concerns the animation that plays when you first open the game that goes through the different companies and ends with Athena's fortune.

  • For my two cents, I don't like the animation: it consistently breaks with misaligned visuals and audio, and as others have said it takes unnecessary play time away from those of us that have limited time to begin with.

I agree that Server-Hopping is a bit of an issue for stability, however I don't think this animation is really doing much to address that problem, it is only a nuisance for everyone that doesn't enjoy the animation.

    In my opinion, Rare should

    • Add a toggle for the animation in settings so anyone that likes it can see it, and anyone that doesn't won't (unless there's a new season or event, then you'd still see it once to get the notes)
    • Fix the animation and add some variance as others have suggested, to help with the immersion aspect
    • Implement a timer between actual server-hops that would be turned on after your second of third server within 10 minutes; this would need to be short like 30 seconds to a minute to avoid outrage, but would do more for addressing server instability than the spawn animation ever has.

The timing for that last suggestion would need to be ironed out, but that's what the Insider program exists for

  • @galactic-geek maybe on pc but xbox it reloads the animation 2-3 times just to see what glove you're wearing

I'm also on the Xbox, and no it doesn't - at worst, you might see some texture pop-in and/or a repeat of the animation a 2nd time. Either way, it's all still over in only a few seconds. Not really worth complaining about, IMO.

The xbox one S is just as bad, (we have one of those too), and maybe I'm saving for something better.

There is nothing better, console-wise, than an Xbox Series X right now (but good luck getting one)...

  • @galactic-geek I'm getting a pc, and you're right about the series x the only way to get is from people selling theirs for like $200 more to really desperate people, but I don't think anyone is gonna fall for it.

I don't know. I'm already jonesin for 1... Thank goodness Rare had the good sense to extend the Duke deadline or I might not have been able to wait much longer.
