Ancient coins should be sold on Pirate Emporium at the SAME PRICE as its been sold at STEAM.

  • Rare should be doing something about it to make the buying prices of ancient coins competitive enough on pirate emporium, as no one is going to buy the game again on steam to buy ancient coins from steam at lower prices.

I even do suggest that, Rare can introduce some new voyages or daily challenges with daily streak benefits which players can play & grind for getting minimum ancient coins in reward, making the game more exciting & attractive.

  • ? Plz explain whats being said here

  • @doomscorp We are old players & we bought the game in our XBOX account from Microsoft store, long ago, even before the time the game came out on to steam. Now, we see that the price of ancient coins sold at Steam is much less than what we can buy through Microsoft store or pirate emporium of the game. As we already own the game in Microsoft store, we are not going to buy the same game on steam account also, for getting lower price rates for buying ancient coins from steam. Rare should give competitive price for buying ancient coins for the Microsoft store account players too & also on pirate emporium comparing the price of ancient coins being sold at lower price on Steam.

  • I'm surprised that even with the Game Pass savings the bundles are still, for the most part, cheaper on Steam. The only exception being the 2550 Ancient Coins bundle.

When considering the largest bundle of 4250 Ancient Coins, the difference is considerable. This bundle on Steam is €29.95, while on the Microsoft Store it's €34.99. Even with the Game Pass savings the price is €31.49, still more expensive.

(Edit: screenshots added for ease of comparison)

  • Doesn't bother me

Steam always has amazing deals compared to everything else

and a lot of us play SOT on gamepass and some of us don't even pay for gamepass out of pocket so it's not like we are just shoveling money into the game. You can play the game for free with the right strategy and effort. If steam has a plan to get their base better deals good for them

  • @realstyli maybe the issue is the conversion. the prices were the same the last time I checked in the US.

  • This is probably due to differences in regional currency conversion on different platforms.

  • For me (AUS) the difference between Steam and the Microsoft store is only a few dollars at best.

  • That is odd. I agree it should be same price . Only thing I can think of maybe the Microsoft store takes a cut so they charge more idk

  • I brought the game from Microsoft store on April 2019, so the game pass price is no help for me. Price of Ancient coins at pirate emporium should be at competitive rates as steam is selling ancient coins at much cheaper price. Specially the 4250 Ancient coin bundle. As its the same game with the same in game micro-currency, then why should the prices be different?

Nobody wants to buy the same game on steam again to enjoy the in-game cosmetics.

  • @captain-coel said in Ancient coins should be sold on Pirate Emporium at the SAME PRICE as its been sold at STEAM.:

@realstyli maybe the issue is the conversion. the prices were the same the last time I checked in the US.

I don’t think that’s the case, as one of the bundles is the exact same price on both. If it were a conversion issue, I would expect them all to be different.

  • The very idea that prices would be different on separate platforms is news to me. Perhaps it's some sort of deal with Steam to help drive sales?

What I find interesting is that someone who owns the game on both platforms could be saving money by strictly purchasing on the Steam platform and then playing on the console, for example, whereas those who only have the console version (like me), don't even get that as an option (or are even aware of it). Of course those who can take advantage of it, have likely already "bought into it" having access to the 2 different platforms.

  • Oh. I had no idea that was even a thing. Well its just another way of rare saying they care more for money than their player.

  • @galactic-geek The game Sea of thieves is already available on steam on half of its original price available at Microsoft Store, & now players are mostly buying the game on Steam for the steam lower price too, But, we old players already own the game on Microsoft store, & its pointless to buy the same game again on steam for buying the Micro-currency (Ancient coins).

I do have doubted that, many players don't even know this fact of lower price of Ancient coins bundle on steam, which made me highlight this particular issue to you all. Rare must lend their kind attention & they must do something about giving competitive prices for ancient coins w.r.t. Steam, on the in game pirate emporium or Microsoft store.

We old players(old supporters) of this game, Please Rare, don't be so harsh on us..!!

  • True, bit annoying when it sells for different prices everywhere.

Pro tip: Buy it from the Microsoft Store since if you own GamePass it will be like 5-10% off or something like that

This isn't true. The game is priced the same on both stores unless there is a sale running. For example, the Microsoft store version has been 50% off for the last week while the Steam version has been full price. I expect that will change once the Steam sale starts today.

As far as ancient coins go, most of the bundles are slightly cheaper on the MS store for me (CAD) by a $1.

In Indian currency, since the launch of the game on steam, the price of the game on steam is less than half of the price of the game at MS store. Even now, when a sale is going on MS store, steam is selling SOT with much cheaper price even without having any sale for SOT.

I have already bought the game long ago from MS store, so, its pointless to discuss the prices of the game. But, the in-game micro currency (Ancient Coins) price at Pirate Emporium should be at a competitive price, as steam is selling Ancient coins bundles at much lower rates, so that we can also buy Ancient coins for the Pirate Emporium cosmetics or if any Battle Pass gets released for this game in future.

  • @Everyone, Steam sale of SOT has begun & its available on Steam in only $5 at India. No more arguments & waiting for me. Better I buy SOT again at Steam & enjoy all the lower price ancient coins bundles.. Still, Thanks everyone for your support & kind views.

& Special thanks to RARE for making a beautiful game.

  • I'm buying the Steam version and gifting another to my brother who hasn't played since the first year.

Just for the chance to come across more pc pirates, and get away from that insipid xbox app to find crews.

Cheaper Ancient coins are just gravy.
