So I see it very often, the question of what is the point after you have everything or at least everything you want. Some people say to add new mechanics to the game like buying supplies as a gold sink. Some people say add more cosmetics at very steep prices as a gold sink. Some people want more ship variants/customisation as gold sink. Some want special private areas added like crew hideout/clan hideouts that are customizable but expensive as gold sinks.
Some ideas we see are good while some don't even follow the core concept of SoT. Today I want to discuss an idea I seen from a YouTube video I watched made by AbsolutePixel. The core idea is not mine however I will give my own thoughts on its implementation.
What if you could buy ancient coins with gold?
Now before you say, no Rare needs a way to make money, hear me out.
Your a player who is max everything, you have everything, and on top of that 50,000,000 gold.
Your tired of doing quest and even PvP because to you it's "Pointless".
What if for the insane price of 10,000,000 gold you could buy 100 ancient coins. Effectively making one coin worth 100,000 gold. Honestly it could even be more insane than this. But would give players a reason to play and play consistently.
For the argument that this would make purchasing ancient coins pointless. I'd argue other wise, maybe for the best of the best yes it will be pointless they will always be well equipped with gold. But for a majority of players the time it take to reach 10million gold would take a while thuse benefiting Rare in two fashions, either by ensuring the longevity of a player who will grind for it, or by securing a nice payment for those less than patient pirates.
Either way I do fall in line with the group of players who believe a new gold sink needs to be added, however this one might not be the best option even tho I agree with it. What are your thoughts and ideas?
