The Legendary Pirate

  • Hello everyone,

    The objective of this post is to give you my thoughts and ideas for improving and giving better purpose to the Legendary Pirate feature.
    As most veteran players might know, when you become a legendary pirate, the game feels a little empty. What do I mean by this? I mean that the Fortune of Athena does not give you anything really special (only cosmetics). I think it would be nice if it had some special event like The Fort of the Damned, Flamehearts Ghost Fleets or something like that, combined with very high difficulty and a campaign-style finale.

    I also came up with some other crazy ideas: lately I've been watching Pirates of the Caribbean and I really love the battle between the Flying Dutchman and the Black Pearl in a whirlpool, as well as when all the pirates rally against the East India Trading Company. In short, the game needs some kind of Raid feature that involves all the legendary and only legendary pirates. With this, you incentivize players (new and old) to get to Legendary status, and have something actually rich in content. It's only my thoughts, but I believe Sea of ​​Thieves needs a raid like "Gates of Ahn'Qiraj" (if you don't know it, google it!).

    A legendary raid is an interesting tought but for it to work it would need to be it's own instance and we would need a real social hub for legends to crew up.

    Personally i always thought the legend hidout should have been a social hub where we could gain access to voyages that would allows to start a unique tall tale like adventure at the end would start a public event.

    Like locating, infiltrating the kraken lair which at the end triggers a world event boss battle withe the beast.

    The whirlpool is with a dreadnot ship boss would be cool to along with tunamis and the like. All great idea's but we got same stuff. And because PL are the minority we get stuff last.

    Rare had so many great PL idea most of which has been scraped and the rest put on the backburner. One day when PL are the majority i expect to see Rare come up with somthing truly unique.

    I suspect thats why they made getting to PL alot more easier cause there screatly building up to a grand spectical for only Legends so their trying to get the majority of the player base PL's.

    i dont want any other than cosmetics. i very much apreciate we have an online Game without vertical progression!

    why gate content behind a rep level?
    and how does this increse the meaning of beeing a PL?
    i dont get it, sorry?

  • I think the biggest hurdle with this idea is separating it from non-pirate legends. I like the idea of putting the voyage in the Hideout, because that's a start, but even non-PLs can get in there - of course, it could simply be locked like other TTs are until they're ready.

    How would it work with a PL and 3 non-PL crewmembers? Would they get to partake despite not being PLs? Or would the PL not be able to do it unless the entire crew were PLs? On 1 hand, they don't seem worthy enough, and on the other, it seems too restrictive. Quite the quandary, IMO.

    If it's an event that takes place in the SoT, how do you even prevent non-PLs from blundering their way into it? If it's separate, how do you allow non-PLs the opportunity to steal from the PLs or otherwise take advantage of them? How could they recognize that they're even on such a voyage?

    Lots of questions; lots of holes that should be filled - do you have the treasure to fill it?

    It is true that there are holes in this idea, but I am a humble client who tries to contribute an idea. The holes have to be fixed by the Devs, for something they are.

    I just want more content, to refer to what Remy said:

    It’s not about the Gold, it’s about the Glory ...

    I feel that there is no glory in being legendary.
