  • because some people call others the n word

  • being a pirate and being a d-bag are entirely different things.

  • Well read the pirate code my Good sir
    Lol

  • @daviddease8670 don't hang yourself up on the name, a thief doesn't harm anybody physically, if they do, they become a robber. If you defend being a d-bag by referring on the games name, you need to call it Sea of Robbers/Murderers/Muggers/D-Bags.

  • @daviddease8670

Just pirating and pillaging is not toxic in it self.
But being toxic is not part of this game.

If u want to be harmfull in speech and letter to your opponent than u deserve a ban.

Pillage around and be a good sportsman about it is not toxic. So no ban.

Seriously u made up this post and wonder about it? Must be troll. U got me i reacted!

  • Why Are You Capitalizing Unnecessarily? Most have already said it, but just because its a Pirate game, that doesn't excuse improper language use along with other abhorrent behavior. I mean no one is going to get banned over sinking a ship with no loot, but you will probably get punished for sinking a ship with no loot if you repeatedly call them slurs.

Just reference the Xbox TOS, if its covered in there don't do it.

  • This takes the #1 prize for dumb threads.

  • @daviddease8670 you should be banned if ye being toxic because ye being an annoying barnacle toward a lad or lass. It’s different when ye just being a pirate. And being a pirate and being a toxic player are completely different.

  • @itz-majman XD

  • @daviddease8670

Frankly read the terms and conditions you signed.

    Short version:
Keep the banter if you use it at all to pirates as in do not include: Racism, Sexism, Age related jokes, Families, you know the stuff that if someone would state that on the street you would have the tendency to smack them into the pavement?

Trolling and griefing of your own crew, while if you know the person well it can be all fun and games yet if it is done by a stranger ... not so fun. Like blowing up your team mates, ship etc. The crew is a sacred bond.

How you get banned? Simply: Someone makes a report. They investigate and they act accordingly.

Things you will not be banned for:

    • Killing a pirate
    • Sinking a ship
    • Stealing loot
    • Tucking away on a ship

It is all about how you act while doing PvP or 'bad' pirating acts, simply being a decent person, just because you are being the evil villain in a game doesn't mean you have to be obnoxious, mean and rude about it. Be respectful or just silent. It is especially bad when you are beating someone and feel the need to rub it in their face that they lost! A sore winner is worse than a sore loser.

  • While it is PvP and called Sea Of Thieves.

It is primarily a game first. We are not real pirates, mearly pretending.
So with that we need to obviously think about our actions and outcomes with others and remember at the end of the day they are also people just playing.

The game can easily be played without breaking any rules and you can easily do everything the game has to offer while doing so.

If someone gets banned it’s not the games fault or anyone else’s but the person who got banned.

Just have fun and be respectful to others and you will never even have to worry about anything but having fun on the game.

    Just my take anyway.

Well I had some guy screaming into the mic for me to F my dad because he was salty he could not steal my reapers chest before I sold it. I mean thats a good reason.

  • I have a few screenshots from my session last night that will be getting forwarded to Rare and Microsoft later today.

A wide variety of insults were tossed our way after chasing down a Brig. Started with some homophobic slurs, followed by some racist remarks. They topped it off with some sexist comments directed toward my wife when they realized they were being killed by a female rather than some guy playing as one.

  • @daviddease8670
This is for once an easy question ( * Be careful , old man , reread the question before you missunderstand it again, George , you moron) . You can play this game thieving, murdering ,merauding , ship sinking and so on....Most toxic behaviour and dito bans comes from the kind of language one uses...

Many pirates take their game way too serious and shout words added with a flair of "personal grudge" ...Does that means that i'm a saint ? hell ,no but i use words that are still in the dictionary and utter them in a way that "my enemy" starts laughing because of the way i said and spiced them up with humour...What so many Pirates forget is that it is just a game , it is no real fight for yer very existence and no one will remember the next day that you were killed … You won't win a medal so don't be too serious , just have fun, win some ,lose some and always keep in mind that "yer enemy" just wanted the same as you namely , some time off from real life and some immersement in a video game...

Rare won't ban you for calling someone a dirty donkey while adding a lot of goofs in that voice , but an angry voice with n and f words ,those are the ones that can lead to a ban...

Take the advice of an old Pirate ( * That can't even write English , what an advisor ,hey?), enjoy the game and yes sometimes you win and sometimes you simply lose , that's just the way it is , no reason to call the other one all sorts of things and if the other one doesn't see it that way and calls you all the words from the dirty book , then you know that he/she still needs a long way to go before they can be called adult , even if they have reached or bypassed the 18th year of life...

  • Because most people can't handle MW2 lobby-like language :) (not that I condone "toxic" behavior but coming from that era of gaming I just don't care to get upset over the language people can shoot my way and usually laugh it off)

  • @archangel-timmy It is kinda crazy how so many people get so mad when they find out a female killed them. I don't understand that. I have quite a few female friends who play and numerous times I have heard the same thing you described with your wife. @DavidDease8670 behavior like that is what can get you banned. It's all a game. Be respectful. Some players, even females, will annihilate you because they are better players. Just don't be salty and learn from each encounter. For instance: I found my first Box of Wonderous Secrets a couple days ago. Got my screenshot with it, was at the outpost to turn it in and had a technology glitch with my TV cause me to get sunk and lose it. Fixed the problem and when I could see my game again the guy had just turned it in. I didn't get mad but I messaged him and joined his chat and gave him my part of the story. Found out it was his first BoWS as well and he was thinking it was a trap someone set up. Ended up having a great story. He was actually streaming and his chat enjoyed being able to hear the whole story as well. We even made plans to play together. These are the great times that can be had with this game if you just be respectful. If you get sunk then give a GG and make friends.

Please define what you mean by toxic.

Did you get banned for killing a player and taking his loot or was it what you had said to the player to result in a ban?

Because if you got banned for simply “Being more pirate” spread that around like wildfire and expose it!

If its a matter of just being horrible to a person and entering the line of cyber bullying, then my view is the opposite, it shouldnt happen regardless and you should be banned.

For personal insults etc, the actual gameplay part should be fine.

Yes some men can not handle it. I have literally been stalked by some guys months at a time on PvP games just because I killed them. These guys would make multiple accounts, join crews I was in, friend my friends all because I killed them . One of reasons why I keep my profile locked down, well that and the ones who fall in love with you after you kill them.

Edit: I actually just saw I got a salty xbox app message in from the guy who could not handle the fact he couldnt steal a reapers chest from me it said "you messed with the wrong crew" oh well shimmer me timbers im so scared now, lol.

  • The other day I was sunken by a ship and when I was fighting back I used the mic to say things like: I will have my revenge, or comeback you little sailor!
On the other crew they were like: You f@#ing motherf@#r, do you really think you can beat us pu##y?

I think the very first thing to acknowledge if someone has been toxic is watching his way of communicating to others.

I was called grease sucking blundy trash a few days ago by a crew using EoR and pistols (After we sank them, of course- two guns doesn't stop your ship from taking water!).
And that's just recently. Racial slurs tend to fly when you challenge someone's attempt at doing the FOTD...
